March 24/25 Overrunning Disturbance

Recommended Posts

Pretty heavy rain here at the moment, and no indications of snow mixing in.  I think we’re done.

The storm died here when RAH hoisted the Winter Storm Warning for 1-3”.  The kiss of death...

gone to sleet and rain even in danville. Already melting. If we could have kept up with the heavy rates we could have got to 6 inches

Switched back to snow the last 20 minutes or so as the last batch moves through. Congrats to all who saw snow, likely the last measureable snow for piedmont areas until next winter (but with this spring who knows?!)

Getting some snow as this last batch of precip moves out. I can't complain, I got somewhere around a half inch of snow. Deck is still slushed over. For my area this was a win just to see the heavy snow come down last night. It was beautiful.

Yeah it's turned out to be a great winter here, after that terrible February!!  How much have you had all together this winter? see how close we are?

Around 17 inches total. I went to bed after last measurement of 4 in. It was going back to sleet. If that storm were in January or February I think we would probably doubled what we got. I’m thankful we didn’t loose power.

This wasnt a bad winter. Would I have liked to have seen more snow? Of course yes. But most of NC ,if not all,had snow this winter and that doesn’t happen to often.

Ready for spring now but  winter18/19 won’t be far away. Only 9 months until Christmas.

What about your end if Surry? How did you do this year.

I ended up around 19.5  inches for the winter...... It's been a good winter, I dread the hot and humid weather though! But ready to play some golf!!! I'm counting last night as 3 inches that I measured but it snowed heavy on and off a hour or two after I measured.............

About 9" and some change for a total south of Roanoke this morning. Roanoke Airport only received 1.7" total.

I was barely on the edge of the bands last night, but it was really putting it down.

Bluefield, WV received 17", bringing their monthly total to 32" for March!

I never saw flakes here in Willow Springs.  Just a cold rain.  Went to bed at 11PM and got up at 6AM so I guess it couldn't fallen between those times but there was no evidence of it this morning.

Well, the WSW conditions never materialized, but we did get about 1/2 an inch of sleet. It was mostly gone by 8:00 AM. Fun little novelty of a system. I'm very jeaulous of Bluefield and Wytheville, though.

Sick cut off with this system. NWS Blacksburg ended up with 11.6" and just 30 miles to the northeast the Roanoke airport got less than 2. Melting quickly here though.

Over 20" of snow this March in Blacksburg.

Some of those totals are insane for late March.

I see good old Floyd county VA got 15". I loved it there.  They always do well. For those that don't know it is the county just above Patrick county.

Drove up to Stuart early this morning past Hanging Rock and up HWY 8.  The tree damage was horrendous.  Crews must have been out all night last night.  Multiple trees had fallen across the roads and branches everywhere.  I think I'm done with winter now.

The ratio ended up being 11.6" of snow from 1.21" of liquid here, so almost exactly 10:1. Bluefield got 17" from 1.66" liquid.

Most of the Kuchera maps I saw posted were quite a bit off and suggested much lower ratios, I think.
