Already??? Are you sure? That would be huge.

It's not very surprising or even unexpected. The airmass is very dry throughout the column which is allowing the flakes to survive the trip despite temps from the surface up through 750mb being above freezing. In fact the nam has pretty much an all snow sounding for atlanta through 21z. The question is are the models correct in bringing in the warm air aloft or if they are over doing it and not taking into account dynamical cooling enough. Recent runs of the nam/rap show its possible so we will see.

We humans may agonize over models, but the animals know what's up.

 

We just caught two sparrows trying to build a nest in the wreath on our front door, deep at the back of our covered porch.  Regretfully I had to take down the wreath just because it's our main entrance and they would likely fly into the house if we opened the door while they were there.

 

32 degrees, dewpoint 27.  Sky's lookin heavy but no flakes quite yet.
