nj2va
It's been a really busy day and it's really unfair because i want to completely and totally obsess on first flakes all day Tell me about it. I want to obsess over the Euro, GFS, NAM, and HRRR for tonight as a prep for our first chance at accumulating snow, whenever that happens.
nj2va
How much for the monthly subscription to SV? And is it a cancel anytime dealie? $20/month and you can cancel anytime since it's a monthly recurring subscription (if you choose month vs annual). Ian
what is sv? Storm Vista. I'm not sure it has much that WxBell doesn't other than the analog maps for every model run.

I may have sounded sarcastic but I was really kind of serious...I draw the line at staying up all night, however.

Oh, same here. I only stay up for the 00z Euro for moderate+ events. Half the fun for me is tracking the event!
Kay
That could be a good question...how many potential inches of snow accumulation does it take to make you stay up for the Euro/stay up staring out the window?
Kay
Or should I have phrased that tenths of inches?

H2O
That could be a good question...how many potential inches of snow accumulation does it take to make you stay up for the Euro/stay up staring out the window? Models don't make it snow so I only stay up when it is falling. Wx gonna do wut it gonna do no matter how many model runs I look at.
WxUSAF
Staying up for the 0z GFS is about as much as I ever do. I like my sleep.
Ian
I don't stay up for it often.. even though it comes out at 1 you're talking being up till 2 unless it's a next day threat. I'd say it needs to at least be 3-6" minimum.. maybe 2" in 2012-13.
Kay
I've stayed up leading into some of the bigger chances, but rethinking that bc it sucks to feel like a zombie during a snow day.
mappy
Ive woken up in the middle night, checked the time, saw the Euro would be out, then checked the board before going back to sleep.

Ian
When the GFS is upgraded (maybe never in actuality) we won't even need to consider staying up for the Euro!
Bob Chill
I'm probably going to only do it inside of 4 days this year and it would need to be at least a shot at 4"+.
snowfan
I'm just really hoping we can get some good daytime snow this year. Seemed like last year our best stuff came after dark.

Bob Chill
When the GFS is upgraded (maybe never in actuality) we won't even need to consider staying up for the Euro! Through 120hrs or so the 13km gfs and euro have been very similar more often than not. IMO the new gfs will be a solid improvement for the typical op useful range (4-5 days). Bob Chill
You say that...but if we get a pretty setup that's good for 2-4 idk. Besides, who says we won't have to nickel and dime our way to 40 I spent all spring/summer/fall using ensembles instead of ops for d5-6+. It only took me my entire weenie career to figure out that op runs in the long range do noting more than cloud thoughts and screw up expectations. Staying up past 1am to watch a solution that is very unlikely to verify verbatim may very well be a thing of the past for me. A good miller A threat will probably suck me in though... MillvilleWx
For the Feb 13 blizzard in SNE I didn't sleep for well over 24hrs. I was up in Waltham, MA for this one. I'm pretty sure I got 6 hours of sleep total in 3 days. I then slept that Sunday from 7pm till 6am that Monday. Was worth it
