Yeah they went right over my head.

There's a lag with the precip reaching you versus what radar shows. I had radar pounding me for a couple of frames before the heavy stuff moved in. The Canterbury RWIS is a good gauge for me since it's practically on the Northfield line on I93. Once they went down to 1/2SM I knew the heavy stuff would reach me in about 5-10 mins and sure enough it did. It ended up a little under an inch, but at least it came in 20 mins rather than 20 hours. :snowman:

looks like that band did some damage..

Interstate 93 southbound in Canterbury has been shut down after whiteout conditions caused a multi-car crash Saturday morning, police said.

measured 1/4" here.. snowed moderately for about an 30 mins with a very quick burst of heavish snow in the middle of it

30 cars and a school bus?! Jesus.

And yeah it was insane for a bit. I can picture everyone flying 80mph south on clear pavement and then hitting the wall of snow.

Not to mention the instant ice on the roads, Had that here a couple of weeks ago with a 2" squall, What a mess.....

Pretty pornographic run on the Euro for up here, Another low ready to pop at the end of the run, We would be catching up quickly if this all verified over the next 10 days........

Well, that'd be great if it did (obviously). I have a foot and two toes in the door for next week and I'll dive in weenie-first for the next one afterwards if it's still there.

Nice to hear about the exciting weather over in NH but bummer about the pile-up.

What trail did you use to ascend? Stowe side or Underhill side? Its very common to have calm winds for 80% of the mountain and then it'll be absolutely ripping up in the snowfields. I love riding up the gondola in the calm and looking up at the plumes of snow getting blown over the summit ridge.

Stowe side.. we were going up the long trail from the closes portion of rt 108 but we missed a right turn right before coming out on one of Stowe's trails. So we hiked up the trails for a short distance to the top of the gondola where the winds were almost calm still. Then we bush wacked up to the ridge since we knew there was a trail that ran along it. Once we got to the ridge the wind nearly knocked us over and we hiked the 1/3 mile to the summit on the trail. Ski patrol probably didn't appreciate us hiking on the trails but at first we thought it actually was the right trail.

Up to 4 or 5" here in Waitsfield.. seems to have winded down.

Congrats on the snow in the Green Mtn State! I figure there'd be some upslope effects with the winds turning NW as the coastal tracked to the East.

BTW the past tense of "wind" is not "winded." gun_bandana.gif

I figured that this would be the right spot to ask this, or as good as any. Does anyone know where or if there is data on subsurface temps. ?

Sorry, I can't help you. Just thought I'd respond so that you'd know you weren't being ignored. Anyway, I think Dendrite may have some insight into that sort of thing. Or I could possibly be very wrong about that. lol

yea but have you noticed that the echoes have increased a bit and that it is becoming e-w oriented? I'm hoping we will get some accum snow from this.

Well GYX put the radar into clear air mode so it only "appears" like radar increased. I don't think this does too much. The high res NMM does drop 1-2" in that vicinity though.

I will always defer to you on these things...that model would support 3 inches with some good ratios and that gets pretty close to us. it is just interesting to see how it showed up all of the sudden. looking out my window hnow i ally seejust a few flakes but the band is really not over me yet but appears headed towards me
