wolfsheepsheadbay
Earthlight, your thoughts on how you think our area ends up faring? Seems like we are juuuuust west of where the best dynamics are, but that we'll do okay anyway.

Seems like we are juuuuust west of where the best dynamics are, but that we'll do okay anyway. We will be fine...right on the western fringe of the best stuff. My forecast for our area has been 9-14" for the last few days.
IntenseBlizzard2014
Based on ratios. Northern NYC will see 12"+ of snow in 6 hours. That's 2"/hr.
IsentropicLift
The NAM is still a tad too weak Has this down to 988 at 00z Meanwhile she is already down to 986. The phase is taking place now
SRRTA22
12" of snow on top of a 1/4" of ice sounds good to me

SleetStormNJ
One issue with the Sim radar presentation in that bright yellow glob is that there's going to be subsidence within there.
SRRTA22
Wow, didn't the 00z NAM show the phase happening basically in the same area or no?
Kaner587
we see an additional 0.25-0.5 from 10pm to 4am on the nam. This snow would likely carry higher ratios I would imagine. This is after a ton of precip frozen for probably the entire area from 4pm-10pm

IsentropicLift
NAM is an extra 1-1.5"+ plus from about KMMU east to KEWR and then an extra 1.5"-2.0"+ eastward.

Kaner587
it looks like the two pieces were meant to fit together. Their precip fields nearly line up perfectly. So amazing to watch unfold. Way more fun than a full snowmaker miller a with less dynamics.

Chris L
NAM is an extra 1-1.5"+ plus from about KMMU east to KEWR and then an extra 1.5"-2.0"+ eastward. Don't forget, NW will get better ratios to make it up.
IsentropicLift
Wow, didn't the 00z NAM show the phase happening basically in the same area or no? The model runs that gave us the biggest snows closed off down in the Delmarva, that has taken place. I still think there is more wiggle room, maybe by about 20-30 miles for this to come further NW since the best banding can often be just NW of where it's being progged. Even if that doesn't happen, it's still a MECS for all of us.
Kaner587
any idea when the NAM changes over to all snow?..still sleeting in many places..I would hate all this precip to go to waste by 7pm temps have crashed almost everywhere.

Chris L
That's unreal. That's at least 15"+ of additional Snow here. yes. That's what the 0z NAM said last night for NYC metro, (minus the crazy 30+ amounts) but IF the NAM is right, someone will get 24-30".
