WilkesboroDude
Makes no sense how the streets are covered in snow and nothing in the grass. I know, and it happened. The ground is now at least half way white...but roads have far more accumulation. I couldn't scrape the ice off my truck it was stuck...will try tomorrow when it gets above freezing. DCMetroWinston
This January 25 (MY BIRTHDAY) is actually colder than the historic January 25, 2001. For GSO, the high was 24, Charlotte's high was 27, RDU's high was 28. The highs in 2000 were in the 30s.

These strong Cad events can cause some strange temperature inversions.
MotoWeatherman
Holy wedge buster...at 650p I was at 29 after a full day in the 20s. Now sitting at a balmy 41.6 at 1115p. CAD is dieing quickly. While only 2 miles down the road it's still 33. But that 2 miles down the road is about 300 feet lower in elevation.

FallsLake
We didn't get a lot of snow or a lot of ice but this is winter at it best. Roads in front of my house have a thick layer of ice, the ground is simi white, pond next to me has been frozen over for three days, and the temps is still in the upper 20s. Solak
Kind of surprised that everything melted down in the CocoRaHS funnel totaled .49". There were a few hours yesterday where the main P-type was rain with a little sleet. Can't get into the car yet today---doors frozen shut.

eyewall
42 consecutive hours below freezing as per Chapel Hill's obs in this area. It is just now climbing above. Yesterday's high was 28.
Bozart
34 degrees at my house. Still socked in -- low clouds continue to block the sun and defy the forecast, which had called for burn-off by mid-morning. Not happnin' so far. Storm total liquid equivalent (from a heated Vantage Pro two miles up the road): .38". It was mostly freezing rain, with some sleet and just a little snow the first half-hour after onset. The glaze on the flora looks thicker than one tenth of an inch, but not quite two tenths. This storm stopped just short of being destructive. Perfect. Roads in western Pitt County mostly clear and dry.
calculus1
42 consecutive hours below freezing as per Chapel Hill's obs in this area. It is just now climbing above. Yesterday's high was 28. Basically, the same here. 6 PM on 1/24 I went below freezing and made it back above at 11:40 AM today (1/26). That's 41 hours and 40 minutes below freezing. Nice! Currently, I'm basking in the warmth of 33.2 F. No sun. Lots of clouds. Calm winds.
WilkesboroDude
Waiting for my road to get scraped...still 1+ of sleet on top of snow on it. Major roads are just wet I believe. They will scrape it since Tyson sends their trucks through here...and at least 2 school buses travel down it.
Isopycnic
I ended the event with 0.23" of precip which fell as snow, sleet and some freezing rain. Accumulation was 0.4" with minor icing.
