Geos
Anybody really good at geography and graphics? I think it would be interesting for those of us not from NYC, if someone could detail a map of the region and pinpoint which areas are receiving the heaviest flooding and damage. I'm sure many of us would appreciate it. Anyone want to give it a shot? I could give it a shot. I'll mark down the places I've heard so far that have had flooding. Scott747
Considering parts of lower Manhattan are flooding, I would tend the think the tidal obs are accurate, but still a little puzzling. Only thing I can think of is that the Cantore reports are delayed which would be just asinine on their part or like others have mentioned he is in a different spot. But he is experienced enough that it doesn't make sense. I'm not watching so not sure how it's being fed. Would think everything is live right now. Paweatherguy1
I would imagine the reason that the flooding is worse on the east side right now is because water is still funneling down the east river from LI Sound. That would explain why things on the west side of Manhattan seem much more mild. I would imagine once the winds shift fully from the South East things will deteriorate. Chaser25973
Unreal....LIPA numbers are now 612,000. Is this storm still moving west or did it stall? Gloria had 683,000... don't know how many of those were NYC.

NCSNOW
Considering parts of lower Manhattan are flooding, I would tend the think the tidal obs are accurate, but still a little puzzling. At the end of his segment it caught up and was passing the previous mark he was referencing (the bottom of the benches). In fact He and the crew where going to have to relocate. From the time it his segment started to the time it ended (about 5+ minutes) the water level went from his ankles to his upper shin/Knee area. WeatherNC
How long should the strong gusts last in north east new jersey? 11pm it should start to back off, roughly another 3 hrs, storm wear starts to set in as the duration begins to take a toll on ones psyche, can't account for that, this is the worst of it, good 5 hr period from 6-11 for N NJ/NYC/LI. New banding starting to light up south of central LI, east of NJ, could be into the City proper in about an hour, loop OKX, blossoming...
