J, I Just got back home from the mall & there is def. A diff. up toward Weaverville. Looks like about 1.5" to the eyeball up here. How far out in Leicester are you? Wind is starting to become a issue up here. Great pics btw! It's good to see some that have white stuff in them.

Weverville obs 27.6° WD NNW & gusty. Light Snow.

The best way to describe it is looking a map, to the left of 251 on a line between Leicester and Weaverville.

Interesting updated forecast. I haven't had a drop of rain, and I feel pretty confident that I won't... I don't think 35 is in my future either.

Rain and snow showers likely. Partly sunny, with a high near 35

We have snow flurries falling in Hickory, NC with temps in the low 40's.

Yeah, I was in a meeting at church this morning when my wife texted me that it was snowing. I ran outside and saw my first two flakes of the year! I didn't see anymore, but she said it was a light snow shower for around five minutes at the house. Too bad that I missed it!

Yikes! Just lost my power for about the last hour. The sun has peaked thru a couple times & then bam heavy snow. Wind is very gusty, Temp is 26.2°

It's been quieter here the last couple of hours. I'm hoping we get some good snow showers this afternoon and after the sun goes down. GSP's AFD mentioned concerns about the wind in Buncombe and Henderson.

Some pretty impressive wording from GSP in the afd update!

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

AS OF 1145 AM...UPPED POPS AND SNOW ACCUMS A LITTLE ALONG THE

TENNESSEE LINE. MADISON COUNTY MAY NEED TO BE UPGRADED TO A WINTER

STORM WARNING LATER THIS AFTERNOON. OTHERWISE THE WINTER WEATHER

PRODUCTS LOOK GOOD. THE UPPER FRENCH BROAD VALLEY...IN PARTICULAR

HENDERSON AND BUNCOMBE COUNTIES...WILL BE CLOSE TO HIGH WIND WARNING

CRITERIA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING AS STRONG COLD ADVECTION IS

CHANNELED THROUGH THE VALLEY. ATTM I WON/T DO THAT...BUT THE KAVL

ASOS IS ALREADY 25G33 KTS WHICH IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE FOR A SUSTAINED

WIND. CLOUD TOPS ARE COOLING ACROSS THE MTNS AS THE STRONG SHORTWAVE

APPROACHES. WE MAY ALSO GET SOME SEEDER-FEEDER EFFECTS SHOULD COULD

INCREASE SNOWFALL RATES IN THESE AREAS. THE WORDING /BLIZZARD-LIKE

CONDITIONS/ WILL BE ADDED TO THE CURRENT WINTER STORM WARNING

COUNTIES AS WE ARE GETTING SOME REPORTS FROM THE NRN MTNS OF NEAR

BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ATTM. I DON/T THINK THOSE CONDITIONS WILL BE

WIDESPREAD OR CONTINUOUS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A BLIZZARD WARNING FOR

ENTIRE ZONES...HOWEVER.

Will do Jason! I just lost my power 4 more x....Temp is down to 25.1° & there is no let up in the wind.

I may have overlooked, but how much SN do you have on the ground? So happy SOMEONE in the SE is getting snow. good people like yourself deserve it. We can leave loss of power OUT OF THIS though. LOL

Hard to get a good read with all the wind. In some spots that are more sheltered I have 2". I have not measured multiple spots for a average though. Def. our biggest snow this year so far. Nice to see white ground for a change. I will try to get some pics up later for you.

I find it unlikely we'll get the 3-4" being forecast. Still at less than an inch.

It's colder than a penguin's a**hole, though...13.9 w/ wind chills around -5.

I agree, I don't see the 3 - 4" panning out either. We were out earlier during the heavier squalls, but not enough to add up. The cabin doesn't have a thermometer but it was 17 on the car when we came in. The winds aren't that bad, some gusts now and then but nothing major yet.

Yeah, I knew from the start this event would probably disappoint. Usually when we get 3"+ from NW flow events, there's nothing intermittent about the snow squalls. This sun, snow, sun, snow cycle doesn't cut it...
