Forest fire smoke is so bad here. Special Olympics have been postponed 2 hours.

Good to see you again Cash! Hopefully all is well up in your area in SoPA. I need to stop by your area and meet at some point. You were always one of the friendliest people I ever met on here back in the days I lived at Millersville while getting my degree. I need to stop by the PA forum again and say hello

1.00 to 1.25” of rain up here overnight. 13th mow on Friday the 13th, how ironic
-
Got absolutely slammed between 830-930 last night and ended up with 1.66" of rain. Rain rate on the local PWS was as high as 2.47"/hr. I can tell you that it was accurate by how hard it slammed onto the roof of the house. Everything got a nice drink! 90/71 were the hi/low numbers yesterday. This morning was MUGGY when I left the house. Currently 73/73 and I believe it 100%. Phew

53.5° -SHRA Only some spits right now. Steined with 0.05”. Looks fairly dry most of the day too. Models get really close to clearing us out in the afternoon, but it’ll probably be too late.

Not much latitudinal movement on these clouds, ftl.

Why did they wait til the mid 90s to finally start warming?

Yesterday turned into a cool beaut of a day. I think we stayed in the 60's, but the sun felt warm once it broke through. It was cold on the water--glad I had brought my coat on the boat. Hoping the sun will dislodged today's clouds soon.

The lowlands got hit hard last evening. Lots of flash flooding in the South River watershed last evening around 8:00. I haven't looked to see how much fell IMBY. Radar estimates are 2-3". 1.20" Heaviest a mile south of me.

June 2025 discussion-obs: Summerlike
LongBeachSurfFreak replied to wdrag's topic in New York City Metro
101 is great running weather. What a joke. Long Beach has made a huge comeback to it’s early 1900s heyday. Back when Reynolds built the gorgeous houses in the red brick street neighborhoods. With wrap around sleeping porches. Very much like other coastal towns (Atlantic city) it had a ruff patch mid century. I used to live in Monroe beach and my next door neighbor was an elderly women who had lived there since the 60s. She said during the 70/80s the complex had fallen into such disrepair the pool was filled with weeds and small trees. The boardwalk was known as an open air drug market. The great thing about modern Long Beach, even though it has gentrified it isn’t prohibitively expensive like some parts of Brooklyn. There are still affordable apartments available. I’m in Pa right now but based on radar looks like the south shore is getting a real soaking right now. -

.09 rain overnight here. A cool 59 cloudy gloomy kind of day so far. Hopefully there will be some improvement throughout the day. And keep that heavier rain away from me. I rototilled the garden yesterday. I hilled up my potatoes yesterday. That ground was heavy to move up against the potato plants. They should have been hilled up several weeks ago. But the constant rain and water laying in the garden made it impossible to do.

I came down yesterday staying till Monday. My company sponsored the show two weeks ago in Harrisburg. It’s really going to come down to ceiling height today.

Not much rain but I am enjoying the easterly fetch and drizzle.
-
Nice washout of a day for my cousin-in-law's daughter's college graduation party. On a normal June day it would be a pool and backyard event, but I kind of doubt it today. Nothing worse than being relegated to the indoors (probably garage) on what should be a fun, outdoor event.

It looks like the stalled front will push further south today. Any heavier rain will probably be from DC and SW, then end up moving southeastward towards eastern VA. That HP to the NE looks a bit more robust on the latest runs. Probably plenty of drizzle and some scattered showers for places further N and E in our region.
