Damage In Tolland replied to Sey-Mour Snow's topic in New England
Hoping to make it to 3-4. All fluff here -
Last night they were at 37 when north central jersey shore and long Island locations were 34. The HIE has gotten too warm.

Down to 30 and moderate snow here in Brooklyn NY. Around 3 inches here. Going to end up around 4ish. Everyone from LI to NNJ to CNJ to SNJ has above normal snow for December . Nice storm for many. Enjoy up there. -

Yup…that’s what this guy has too. He lives up a long windy driveway, with a few homes on each side as you go up his gravel driveway. He had the big open lot at the top…has a nice big cape with dormers, and a big huge eoetste garage that has a beautiful bar in it…place is gorgeous. His back yard overlooks the valley below, you can see Hartford to the right, and Springfield to the left out in the distance from his yard. His name is Dennis. -
Might get some help from the sound too with N winds kicking up.

About 4.7" on the SW part of NYC (with a bit of elevation, making it a world apart from Manhattan in marginal events)

Your area was sort of the cutoff. West of the Quabbin is pretty much just a dusting. We had about 30 minutes of light snow in Greenfield earlier but nothing since. Congrats to southern and eastern peeps. -
Temps overperformed big time before. When I saw it hit 40 in central park I knew there was no way they'd cool down fast enough to have numbers like 4-5" verifying. Cpark needs an arctic antecedent airmass well below 32 for forecasts to verify now...
-
Can't use central park anymore IMO as a benchmark.

4.25” officially - temps plunging - sitting at 25 Off to work

The 1.1” at NYC was as of 7AM when it was having “light snow” (vis 1 mile). Since then, the vis dropped to 0.75 miles vis (still called light snow) at 8 AM followed by moderate snow at both 9AM and 10AM with only 1/2 mile vis. One would think they’ll have much more than 1.1” when this is done (shortly).

Yeah the urban heat island of Manhattan and northern Queens has really cut into LGA and CPK reporting over the past 5 years or so. In smaller events like these, sometimes their reporting is nearly half of what it is in the surrounding areas!
-
Temp plummeting now, 29. Travel will be bad today. LIE and northern state snow covered out here now
-
Newark and JFK seem unaffected. Forecasts should verify there with about 3". Here in Jersey City im sitting at 3" with some more to go.
-
Coldest am yet around N MN. -10's/-20's. Badoura over in the Park Rapids area -28. Windy last night, but they calmed down, and with clear, blue skies allowed some good radiational cooling this morning. Impressive cold snap for mid Dec, but I'm ready for milder temps, and some snow chances.
-
25 with very light snow, just about over up here. Got 2 inches, 8 for the season.

A few left over flakes sun has made an appearance. 30f humidity 96% dew point 29f snow total: 6.5” snow total for the year: 6.8” power out unfortunately -
Just measured 5" here in Bayside. Heaviest snow of the storm so far and coldest air, should prevent any more melting and aid in accumulation. JFK, EWR, and LGA must be past 3 by now, probably exceeding rates of 0.5" per hour. Dare I say that Central Park might get to 3" as well when this wraps up in an hour or so?

Very curious what temp or precip issue the city had. An inversion perhaps?
