48hr HRRR owes me an inch for today still. Always prefer to have every piece of guidance snow on me but I'm okay losing this one. I'll hug the 12k NAM, which promised @Bob Chill 4" of snow today at 12z yesterday. I'm sure that's panned out well.

The upcoming Xmas Warmth is reminiscent of December 2015. 70degree temps in central Va for numerous days. Dominant WAR….Then the following month January 23rd, we received 18” from Winter Storm “Jonas”. So there’s always hope!

You are far from alone. Specially in this forum. lol. We r Sno hounds to our very core. I’m very happy with the start of winter here and warmups are part of the game. No biggie. I’m in the Sno covered crunchy ass woods of southern Lebanon county right now and can tell you it looks and feels like mid winter here. Deers winnin with the noise I’m making while scaling the ridges.

It hasnt become more pronounced. it is the same historical pattern. More pronounced would be if that threshold changed to 5 inches, or occurred more frequently. Now, assuming we finish Dec with 3 inches of snow this year. And we wrap up with snow in the low to mid 20s, that would be an interesting April discussion…would this have been an AN winter in a different climate? Is that the new AN?

I'm going, haven't been interested in going to a game for many years.

We definitely need a reshuffle of the current pattern and hope we get one that better supports cold and snow. Once in January, time goes by really fast lol

Another 2.1 overnight into this morning. I knew something good happened when I heard the plow this morning. -SN and 12.3 now. Next week might feel like summer given the pattern we've been in so far.

I like the depth of the DGZ with this one. A little liquid goes a long way. Great test case for AI modeling here with the more amped and juicier solution and a notable difference in trough tilt. I think this is a measurable one for the coast at least. This vort here is holding the keys to the difference in more neutralish rough tilt vs more positive. I don't know the answer yet on whether AI is better poised to be the better predictor vs NWP on trough axis tilt and whether this is a use case where it has skill. I do know the Euro is further north than the GFS at 48 hours, has a less positive tilt and if I'd have to guess in most cases the trend in recent years is north late. I wouldn't necessarily dismiss plowable fluff at this stage for the coast... The confluence near us is the counterargument to that.
