It got nasty out there last night while I was at my Colombia hole.. The Mayflies and the smoke were unbearable but my patients paid off. Sat out in this s*** all night last night, probably not the healthiest thing to do. -
The birds woke up this morning and were like I ain't singing in this shit.

My memory is that 2023 smelled like a wet, stale campfire. Agree with @dailylurkerthat today has more tire-fire notes
-
Woot, DP down to 65 here. Hazy, with slightly detectable aroma.

Did you see the visible satellite of that? It just kept boiling right on that stalled dry line. The smoke was flowing in from the nw and suddenly that complex exploded and kept boiling. It was a beautiful event.

Yeah that storm popped right over the bay. Did you see that training line of storms that moved across central/southern NJ? Some 4" amounts in that area.
-
interesting, we are in the thick of it this morning and you are absolutely correct about the lack of bird songs
-
My niece and a friend are going to a concert at Ravens stadium tonight. Eeeek
-
We should hopefully be clearing out today.
-
Northern edge on the GOES East did not budge much of a few frames. Would bot surprise me.
- Today
-
Hrrr has the smoke sitting here all day
-
The specific smell is what I remember from a few years ago. Not a campfire smell, but an acrid, completely unpleasant smell. My AQI is hovering around 300. IAD and DCA are near 1 mile visibility.

It def makes the sun look cool even if you know it’s like puffing on a Marlboro red when you go outside
