  1. Past hour
  2. We had temps in the teens throughout the entire event. In the majority of storms, that’s all snow. In most winters, our issues are not precip, it’s temps. I grew up in the 80s (snow on the ground for weeks at a time) and have been thru all the big blizzards since (including traveling from 2007 to 2009 - was back in time for Dec 09), so I’m picky when it comes to wanting snow. That said, I don’t like when my basketball courts are covered lol, so if that’s gonna happen I want it to be for a good reason. I’m actually not as negative as I appear…but this a competitive sport, so it gets to be a little ridiculous when I see places to the south getting the flush hits that we aren’t. But the tide will likely turn…just a matter of when.
  3. Still a chance. Euro AIFS ticked north a bit. Probably noise, but we’re not out of that one yet
  4. Nothing but flurries and very light snow where I am. Very little accumulation. I took a drive (carefully) to the NE ATL suburbs though, and they have an inch or two.
  5. Finally seeing our first flakes of the day near Brier Creek/RDU. Just moved, so sorry for confusion on username
  6. Faster progression more east. Trough is still positive allowing faster movement vs going negative.
  7. Flurries are flying in Tallahassee, FL right now.
  8. Soundings showed the possibility of this going on thru the night, but models didn't have any lift to put anything down on snow maps (that was when i was looking pre event). Haven't checked them since event started.
  9. We are right at 5.5" here in Belmont and still coming down steady! Temperature has dropped to 19° - despite solar noon having been ~1 hour ago. Incredible.
  10. You better bet, I didn't have to try hard to smile for the camera, happy right now is and understatement!!
  11. 97.5% blizzard outside in Kernersville. My snowboard got cleared by wind at roughly 4 inches. There are right at 2" now on the board. So we are approaching the high water mark of our forecast with no end in sight. Absolute gem of a storm. 9" on the snow pole at the farm in Stuart VA.
  12. Wind is really picking up here and the visibility is improving as downsloping starts to do work. 5.25" measurement.
  13. There's also this: Wife just texted me in the same room
  14. The Hrrr is improving even with still not having things right on initial.
  15. NE Durham, it's snowing if you squint real hard.
  16. this one is good too - lots of other cams on this site. https://www.surfchex.com/cams/avon/
  17. Thats all true. Let's see if we can get some ground truth. Radar is solid over me with little coming down. Having a hard time saturating with those North winds pulling the dry air down
  18. SREF terrible model never verifies -maybe the "broken clock" theory can apply haha
