  1. Past hour
  2. Ray has responded quite calmly to all of this (back a few pages). He knew it was coming towards yesterday evening
  3. It would be awesome to pull a 40..... I guess I should say "super awesome"
  4. It could be the terrain effects and placement of the coastal fronts and deformation bands around the NYBight. There is often a least one very heavy band that parks over NNJ and another across Long Island. The immediate area around Manhattan can get into some relative subsidence between the bands. The NNJ band this time was just west of the Hudson. But at other times with a storm track more tucked in near the coast it has been over Western NJ into Orange and Rockland. The December 2020 storm tracked closer to ACY than this one did and delivered 40” to BGM.
  5. Faced that scenario in Dec 2022. I'd bought the Husqvarna a few weeks early and learned that it was underpowered on its first excursion, 22" snow from 2.41" LE, powdery but solid. Even at its lowest speed, the pack would stall it within 5 feet. Had to go 2-3 feet, set over a foot, then do alternate 5-foot runs moving back and forth so only half the distance was full frontal attack.
  6. Amazing storm for our area for sure. I was pissed that I passed out before midnight and missed the deform band. Too many edibles
  7. We had that in 1978 in Foxboro and then again here in Hubbardston with the 2008 ice storm. Big ass front end loaders. my aunt and uncle were living in Hull in 2015 and they needed assistance then as well
  8. Shall i list my injuries that keep me from shoveling 2 feet of snow? Lol
  9. Reports have come in that Providence has received 34 inches. Something doesn't add up here, or you were in a hole.
  10. 6.5" total in Salem NH. Hoping for some mid-level magic to get us closer to double digits by the time all is said and done this evening. 23" OTG.
  11. Just like the Jan 25-26th big storm i wanted to create a thread just for final snowfall totals. It's easier for me to collect data as well. I post all the final snowfall totals maps in here as well from NWS. This is the current one, keep in mind these reports are still rolling in and some are old.
  12. Really wanted to share this one real quick. I've got more to share but I'm out filming when I'm not working and haven't had time to download everything yet.
  13. The echos look lighter but it’s just as strong as it has been. I think we push 38”. This is a full corpse rotting in this band. Never in my years studying weather have I seen a mesoband this persistent outside lake effect or ocean effect snow.
  14. There was 5” But they officially had 32.8” at the 37” depth (+32”) ob so another 1.5-2.4”/hr puts the official at 34-35”
  15. It was. Snuggled up nice and close to Cape May before it made its way northeast and was way west of pretty much everything but the NAM/GFS (discounting the last wonky run the GFS had) this is partly why we have such high totals further north and west than modeled. I know you're seeing much lower totals far west, but that's because the models all had a smoother distribution and fall off west than what happened in reality which was a sharp cut off. .
  16. Snowblower? Mine looks suspiciously like a shovel. It never leaks, it's lightweight and easy to handle so if I twist and flick just right it has a pretty good throw distance. If I twist wrong the shear pin still breaks though.
  17. Once a certain amount of time passes it is no longer a local WFO thing. Only NCEI can change it, so IIRC when Will pieced together the missing records it was too late for BOX to change things. And NCEI is notoriously unwilling to change data (with good reason, don't need ulterior motives driving data changes).
  18. Compaction for sure. Most of my yard is 17-18” depths now. I was measuring my snowboard every hour basically all night and I cleared the board at 11 pm so that’s why. You’re not supposed to clear it I think until 12 hours but I needed to because of the blowing. That could have inflated my total by an inch or two. Several other reports near by of 20+ though!
  19. Back to heavy rates in Boston with this band setting up We continue this for several hours Logan will break 18"
