  1. Past hour
  2. Wasn't last July the most humid July on record? We need another month like that, seems like there were thunderstorms every day that month.
  3. That’s from the massive DWKW Paul Roundy and Eric Webb talked about over the weekend. It’s going to advect and slosh east through Ekman pumping just like they all do.
  4. Well peaches can set wayyyyy too many fruit. People usually have to thin them a lot to get larger peaches and to prevent branches from breaking. So having 50%+ blooms get fried saves growers from that hassle. Re:coolwx…I have obs from all over the place. Some from Auburn through 2001. Lyndonville obs while at school in the late 90s. North Branch MN for a year. Manchester and Goffstown obs for a bit. Then finally up here starting in 2006.
  5. First of next week might get interesting. This is d4-7 .
  6. Western ENSO subsurface continues to strengthen, making me think 57-58, 65-66, 86-87, 91-92, and 15-16 could be top analogs. >+4c on TAO/Triton at 160E, -150m
  7. LWX's daily reports showed a T of snow at DCA and IAD, tying records.
  8. So while we only flew through Zurich to Czechia (formerly Czech Republic) English is spoken by most. Our oldest studied in Prague and while she was required to take a Czech language class most Europeans know and are quite good with English. It is a part of their schooling. So most Europeans in urban settings speak English pretty fluently. The older generation and more rural parts it is a bit harder.
  9. Low of 39 this morning. The he farm got below freezing for second straight morning, bottoming out at 31.3 while the nearby Franklin county airport actually eclipsed my sensor and recorded 30.2
  10. Hopefully it peaks this week and we chip away at it the next few weeks
  11. Today
  12. I'm planning on basing in the village of Kandersteg (near Interlaken) which has nice public transportation up and down the mountains while being on a train station for easy in/out access. I don't know if I can make this trip work with timing of my finals and then other commitments but I'm really hoping I can! Quick question, but how hard/easy was it to navigate if you only know English?
  13. I'm really only familiar with the part of Switzerland that I've been to, but the Alps obviously cross several borders. If I were particularly focused on soaking in the Alps, I might have gone to Zermatt and done the Glacier Express train and the gondola. For a shorter trip without a car, I would have probably based in Interlaken, Switzerland and take the train into Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald/etc.
  14. Saw an article about peaches and how some growers like to see 75% of the blooms frost resulting in bigger sweeter peaches. Cobbler for the win. Also was looking at your obs on Coolwx from way back. Cool stuff
  15. I would not be surprised to see some exceptional drought areas appear down by CLT soon and the extreme areas will likely grow this week.
  16. Got a measley 0.10" on Sunday over a long period of time but I guess it was better than nothing. No frozen from it though! I did bottom out at 31 this morning and was trying to remember whether someone called the last freeze "the last of the season". Currently mostly sunny and 52 with dp 27.
  17. yeah the freeze definitely verified outside of the immediate urban areas.
  18. Severe is to hard to be predict/modeled than snow.We even saw this in our parts last week where Saturday was being modeled as more severe than Thursday even a couple days before, but it ended up opposite Nashville disco this morning even mentioned Social Media. It's going wild.Even one person bringing up 2011 that have many,.many followers, you shouldnt even bring up that word,2011, this far out.
  19. Man what a chiller and I think several low temp records got set with IAD at 27 and BWI 30. I thought I would make it to 31 but hit 29 and Frederick bottomed at 25 and stayed at or below 28 for 4.5 hours
  20. Yeah it did not say why just unknown outage. Funny thing is they are usually pretty good about sending a text about any outage. We never got one until after service was restored. Still says service is being looked at but have been up and running since 8:30. Need to figure out the EV charger though. While it is powered it says it is offline with the WiFi. Think it may just be a unplug and replug issue, but could be that the connection was lost and has to be re-established. Up to 54 here now. HVAC install is almost done. House is holding at 68, cooler than what it is when the heating is on but just have a jacket on.
  21. https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/21/us/deaths-disappearances-scientists-investigation ..they've hit the Climatology community, too, if there weren't so many of them.
  22. Maybe this will be the year we don’t make it?
  23. Down to 28 this morning W of BWI. I have no memory of a spring freeze around here after Apr 21.
