Most of the time persistence wins. For last winter and this winter to date there have been two themes: Dry Cold Warm ups are short and snowfalls are light to moderate.

Definitely an overachiever, between 10-11" on my deck and still snowing moderately. Going to be some big totals if we can hold on to some moisture through this afternoon.

I've never had a 20 incher in March, the month just doesn't have the juice

Also the MJO will be in phase 6 which does not favor snow for the east coast

First rule of winter weather is to get the cold air established and I’m worried about that for you guys. It doesn’t matter how strong the arctic blast is, the process is more of a spillage over the apps than a blue norther.

Ended up around 5 inches here in Hillsdale. From not even expecting a dusting to completely covered.

Looks borderline SE of 84 and warm SE of 95. Will need rates and timing to be early morning. I couldn’t see a stripe of 2-4” in the meat of the band where it’s cold enough

I don't really get emotionally invested anymore. When there is something worth tracking, we track it, but expectations should be low when only one model is depicting the desired outcome over several runs, even at 4-5 days out.

MJO is a valid argument against. I should have explicitly mentioned that yesterday, although in my previous post I did say it gets more supportive beyond the 20th, when it hits phase 7. Like John always says, though...MJO is something you want on your side, but it's not 100% prohibitive....it either constructively or de-constructively interferes. I will say it is increasing in amplitude attm...
