January 2026 regional war/obs/disco thread
Sey-Mour Snow replied to Baroclinic Zone's topic in New England
I’m watching stranger things finally and the weather reminds me of season 4 with Hop. Just keep on getting tortured and beaten by Mother Nature, then we get some hope, then beat up even more. When will it end. -

Storm potential January 17th-18th
coastalplainsnowman replied to WeatherGeek2025's topic in New York City Metro
Anyone here remember channel surfing 35-40 years ago to hear what everyone was saying about an incoming snowstorm, and there were always one or two guys who seemed to always be on the conservative side, almost sounded happy to announce that a storm was going to miss, or especially turn to 'plain rain' etc? Couldn't stand when they sounded happy. But you always wanted to see what those guys were saying, because on the rare occasions when they were talking big potential amounts you knew then that we could have something real on our hands. -
Let that front get hung up over the mountains a little.

Op runs flip flop around- its just the nature of deterministic guidance 4+ days out. Check out the 18z ens mean. Low 40s with SW flow ahead of a major cold front is exactly what is expected in mid winter. The "good" period(we hope) begins just beyond this.

TopHat, I need you to stand up and walk over to the box that handles all your feeds. There’s a switch behind or in front of it. Press it to the off position and step away. Remain standing there until further notice.

Here’s hoping we cash in. If we get flurries tomorrow morning I’m going to riot.

Yep and the arctic front being more past us than to the east could give some isentropic lift over the shallow cold air. Still unlikely, but it really won’t take much shallow moisture to maybe create a bit of qpf.

Hi! Lol, We do have a Central PA thread that includes many posters from York, Lebanon, Dauphin & Lancaster. Most of us that post there regularly are from southern PA. @mitchnick posts there sometimes. You are welcome to come home as well anytime!

It’s probably too far NW on both events. That’s its bias. It will correct SE on both probabiy -
