  2. Count me in on this thinking as well, in PA at least. Certainly dynamics look very favorable in terms of shear/helicity, along with very high low level winds to tap down. Whether or not south-central/Sus Valley cracks all the way into the warm sector ahead of the front to take fuller advantage of those dynamics seems to be a main potential limiting factor. 18z 3k NAM never really builds much CAPE in the Sus Valley (cloud cover), having a narrow corridor of modest CAPE further west in the south-central counties. Newest high res model runs doesn’t look particularly organized with any kind of solid QLCS line, which would be the primary threat here over discrete cells… though I wouldn’t rule those out, esp with any breaks to help with daytime heating. As a side note the 18z 3k NAM was a prolific snow maker behind the front in western/central PA and other high res like the HRRR has at least a couple inches mainly in the Laurels/north-central. As another side note, this is occurring tomorrow literally one year to the date last year that we had a QCLS type line come through mainly the western and central part of the state with many tornado warnings and an 89mph wind gust at Latrobe.
  3. Yes I agree, the clody maritime SE fetch is going to destroy the instability factor east of the Blue Mts. No sunshine = no severe weather. The race is on if the sun comes out before the storms hit our area. I see a duration of light to moderate rain until late in the afternoon as the best bet. Rumbles of thunder and heavier downpours tomorrow evening with squallywinds at frontal passage . Anyone west of York/Lancaster, watchout. Tornado watches west of Berks county a good bet
  4. I agree. Never seen that happen ...but I'm from a different time . Hell I graduated in 1985 ! I'm olddddddd
  5. Hi there, I got tagged that I was quoted up here; Yeah, the write up was for the Mid-Atlantic. I don't see the isolated pre-squall tornado threat getting up into Southeast PA. The hodographs are more linear compared to down in VA and So. MD. The squall will still be dangerous with embedded supercells.
  6. I have a feeling we start seeing the dominos fall with schools now with Frederick and AA closing 2-3 hours early
  7. Damn I've never seen a school system let out early for the risk of thunderstorms . Damn
  8. It has snowed all afternoon as modeled with visibility between 1-2mi. I have noticed shoveled/plows surfaces have stayed wet instead of accumulating new snow and there has been compaction elsewhere. Spring.
  9. Hmmm… don’t know if I’ve got a lot of good advice for you here. Not a lot of great views looking toward the mountains. Top of Culbreth Garage? Or from Clem on the balcony looking east?
  10. What are the best places on Grounds to watch the shelf cloud come in? Thinking if I don't chase out to Orange or areas east to hopefully see some rotation or get supercell shots I might as well try to get some otherworldly shots of Grounds.
  11. 1920’s relieved Or I should say late 20’s and 30’s
  12. When I bought my house, one of my asks for the realtor was no trees that could reach the house. Needless to say it was a hard find, but we did end up finding one! It also has a brand new metal roof, so the rain sounds fantastic! What I didn't notice is that a neighbors gutter goes right into a low spot near the house, so... that's my next worry.
  13. Thanks for this. Remarkable this occurred up here back then. Today? Much more likely with climate changes.
  14. https://www.aacps.org/ 5 p.m., 3/15/26: Due to the forecast for severe and dangerous weather, including potential tornadoes in the afternoon, all schools will close 2 hours early on Monday, March 16. There will be no afternoon half-day ECSE programs, no afternoon CAT Center programs, and no JROTC programs. In addition, all school field trips for Monday, March 16, are canceled. Students will be transported home via normal routes at dismissal times that are two hours earlier than normal. All activities beyond the regular school day, including magnet extended day programs, extracurricular activities and all Evening High School classes, will be canceled on Monday, March 16. For the status of activities sponsored by agencies other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools, please check with those agencies.
  15. Thats odd, AACo schools just declared a 2hr early dismissal tomorrow. I don't recall that ever happening. I could be wrong. Is this really going to be that bad?
  16. Far NW side of Chicago and the drop in temperatures was nuts. Wind direction went from the south to a strong NW. Crazy roller coaster today
