2026-2027 Super El Nino
cmillzz replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
If the anticipated decay of the Niño occurs during that timeframe, it would favor another warm spring across the Midwest and the East. I’ll take it. -
That's not typically a thing in an El Nino. And on a smoothed climate model depicting a long wave pattern over a 3 month period months in the future, the only thing that can be gleaned is the general idea and its somewhat subjective. There isn't really a notable signal for a -NAO on this panel imo. A -EPO.. yes.

Late July 2013 featured a legitimately impressive cold snap, with daytime highs barely reaching 60° in Madison, which was truly October-like. Today, by contrast, temperatures have already climbed into the 70s despite the rain and persistent northeast winds, so it's not really all that noteworthy.

Yeah, that plunge looks like 1973, 1988, 1998, 2010 territory. All of those years resulted in a backlash, strong la nina. -
Take a look at their July temperature outlook, issued on the final day of June, and compare it to how the month actually played out. I'd take their monthly outlooks with a grain of salt.

Latest Euro says to GFS, what 90's next week? -
Yeah, Don, I just looked at the following, which is as of Aug 1. It tells me that whereas Aug 1st is NN for NA, SA is MBN. Projecting from Aug 1 to EOY gets NA to ~2012-25 avg but SA is headed for MBN when projected. July added only ~4 mill ha in Americas vs avg of ~8 due to wet SA thus putting Aug 1st even further behind than Jul 1st:

EasternLI replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
Ah, I see what happened now. Sorry for the confusion this morning. You probably thought I was referencing what bluewave was posting about. I was not. I was referencing what so_whats_happening had posted. About recurving typhoons. Which is why I quoted him. Was a coincidence I posted that right after BW did. I think I could have worded that a little better. Perhaps it was just too early. -
