    The sun is now completely obscured in the valley. I can taste the smoke in the air and the motion detector nightlight outside the brewery flicked on because it’s so dark right now. Killing a heat wave with smoke was not on my bingo card.

    Yea. It’s felt less oppressive than recent summers for sure. Ive seen more “blue” 850 temps on guidance than usual too lol.

    There is nothing redeeming about the smoke. It is more annoying than a dry slot in winter.

    115° Miles City. 102° Thunder Bay That was a pretty good ridge with the ring of fire well up into the prairie provinces. Days and days of storm complexes with CGs over the boreal forests. Then we advect it around the ridge into our region.

    I was down in you area this weekend for a lacrosse tournament and pretty much all full sun lawns were pretty brown, I'm sure its getting worse every day. Still mostly green here, but its definitely starting to see the the initial stages of drought stress. I don't water my lawn or have irrigation, but watering my new plants much more often than last month.

    My ice fishing spot, near the forested island about 1/4 mile from the Rt 41 boat launch. Three whiffs and we struck out yesterday. (Or got smoked out) Had a sprinkle at 10 AM but the opportunities at 6 and 10 PM offered nothing except some grumbles to scare our dog. All 3 passed to our west.
