Purely a guess but it is feeling a bit of shear from the north. I think it’s successfully disrupting the attempts to establish an outer eyewall but it’s just simply too intense of an inner core to be bothered by the same shear. An absolute unit of a storm. Parallels are hard to draw but the San Juan radar reminds me so much of Charley. compact little donut.

I love all kinds of weather, other than high humidity. I love the weather coming this week but also appreciate what this past week was.

I know some memorable winters were on the heels of decent ACE numbers, but I thought I read somewhere, could've been on this Board, high ACE numbers are no guarantee for a decent east coast winter either. From what little I've paid attention to hurricane activity as a clue to east coast winters, it seems a large number of recurves was a better indicator if you're looking for a decent east coast winter. Is that right? Anyone?
