1. I estimate that the January 2026 PNA will calculate to +0.5. 2. Jan NAO calculated to be negative. This combined with the Dec -NAO and the progged first half of Feb’s -NAO means the first sub -0.25 DJF NAO is just about assured for a winter without it being weak sunspotwise since 1978-9!

Anyone who is laughing at the wake county folks for complaining about yesterday didn’t go through what we did yesterday. Legitimately snow holed like it wasn’t even possible. We didn’t even hit warning criteria and might be THE only place in the state that didn’t. Sure, happy for the snow but given what everyone else got this will go down as the biggest disappointment since December 2000 for this area. I don’t want anyone telling me to be happy I got snow, look at the NWS accumulation map and you’ll see my sentiment. No words

14.2 last night highest gust was 17.3mph THe winds was gusty last night but not to bad.

I would almost guarantee that will have at least a little front end thump of sleet and snow for some spots. Now it may not be a big thump since it doesn't look like it has too much .qpf, but I've seen this little show a few times, after snow and cold is in place.

January here finished as the coldest month since Feb 2015 with a 28.3° mean, even with an 8 day thaw from the 8th thru the 15th where the temp hit 50° five times. Snowfall of 17.6" and precip of 2.79".

We need the PNA to go neutral to slightly negative. Suppression sucks.

I'll take this, covering up the dogs bathroom area I carved out so I'm not staring at lemon snow.
