Awful. I looked at CoCoRaHS for Aug 1-6 and almost all of Crozet Co. is 3-5 inches while Augusta is half an inch or less. Hope your luck changes

I remember the 2007 event. Some roof damage in the Bay Ridge area. I remember the low cloud/visibility that day. I keep thinking that a photo exists of the funnel cloud over the Narrows. The photo as I remember it was looking from north looking south. The funnel cloud stood out even though it was immersed in surrounding cloud. It’s probable I have events/years mixed up. As always …. .

Not sure I agree with that for the latter half of the season. -

I would expect lingering Nino 1+2 warmth well into next spring and summer. If I remember correctly, when 1+2 fails to cool down like that we usually get a weaker Nina rebound or just stay cold neutral. Would have to look more into the data. -
Definitely in line with CanSIPS and CFSv2
-
Yeah, we got the record heat back in early July. This time it’s the high dew points making headlines. Straight from the tropics.

I’ve got maybe 20 good years left. Let it snow.

2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino

If we can finally eradicate the boiling oceans in the western pac and get a strong +PDO for the late 2020s it will be worth it, even if the coast gets 0 snow all winter long. -
The humidity / dews are what is making this stretch nasty. Temperatures are not crazy so if we can at least lose the humidity I think most would be happy. It is really swampy out there again this morning. Had .02" last night as a T-Storm clipped my area. Bulk of it slid by to the west into Sussex County..

2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino

I think the warmth will unfortunately be overwhelming for people near I95. You don't get a nino this strong without at least a 10+F month, and most likely all the storms will lack adequate blocking because the NAO will be very positive as well. -

The real losers with these very strong el ninos are the ski resorts and skiers in the east (sad for us). 90% of other people prefer less snow and highs in the 50s and 40s instead of 30s and 20s like the last winter. -

Suprisingly HRRR likes this area tonight for some trainers . I hope it stays west of East Haven, going to RI after summer baseball playoffs tonight, can't have those rescheduled for tomorrow and eat into my last summer getaway. -
Wouldn’t be surprised if we get a curveball cold month or two this winter. Ofc odds are def leaning towards mild and wet overall ala classic Nino and even just considering our recent trash winter climo regardless of ENSO conditions. However you can never discount a rando month or two where conditions set up perfectly on our side of the globe for cold/snow while Siberia and the oppo side torches.
