    It is refreshing right at the beach but from my experience being above 1500 ft makes me feel even cooler and at night the temperature is much cooler and you dont feel the humidity up here probably because the air is thinner? It would be an absolute disaster, you stay safe too even a run of the mill flash flooding event can cause a ton of danage: basement flooding, subway flooding, roof collapses, etc.

    Is there anything at this point between now and October that could stop this from becoming the Wilma of El Nino events? Seems like it’s becoming so well coupled in the tropics that that there really isn’t.

    Pretty clear to me that it plays a role, as it does in just about everything. Is it the only factor? Of course not...but the sole purpose of ENSO is to redistribute the solar heat that builds in the west Pacific as a product of the Walker Cycle, so it definitely has an impact.

    It's not very accurate unfortunately I grade it a C- on rainfall but an A on temperature. That's why I also have the WS-2000 which uses the same sensor as your WS-2902. And a backup magnified Acurite rain gage to backup both units lol. Is the sensor array what died on your unit? You can get a backup sensor unit for it and also one for the HP2584. For the WS-2902/2000 a replacement sensor array is 140 and for the HP2584 it's 155 both on Walmart. That's where I got both weather stations from and where I plan to buy backup units for both from because i have no idea how the winters up here will affect them. Did you know the HP2584 sensor array can be powered by electric outlet? I just dont know where to get the adapter from that plugs into the cord attached to the sensor array. Incidentally the haptic wind sensor is way more accurate than the one with moving cups we have on our Ambient units. I would post pictures of both set ups but there is a very low upload limit on here and I dont know how to resize pictures from a phone.

    I just got an Ecowitt HP2584 a few weeks ago after my Ambient WS2902 died after 8 years, I had a headache trying to find my exact elevation too. Do you find the piezoelectric rain gauge to be accurate? 90/80/107 here now. Crazy how 80-degree dews have become so normal over the past decade or so, I don’t even count them anymore.

    At the same time though it's nothing like 1999 or 2002 this drought has been much more localized. In 1999 for example there was a water emergency in the Poconos. There are water restrictions this year down in the valley cities but it's only because there has been too much rain which has caused sediments to run off into the reservoirs. Nothing for me to worry about because all my water comes from a well.

    I would use 1971-2000 rainfall totals to calculate averages after that period rainfall became excessive.

    Wow, I grow all three species too, but mine are in pots. I bring them inside if lows are forecasted to be in the low 20’s since pots freeze much faster than the ground, but they spend most of the winter outside. My Windmill is about 6 feet tall so it’s becoming a hassle. I’ve grown more than a dozen other palm species but these 3 are far and away the most rugged, even outside of winter. I too wish they’d catch on here.

    Yes at around 1650 ft elevation near Lake Harmony. When I set up my Ambient WS-2000 and Ecowitt HP2584 weather stations I had to find the exact lat long and elevation and it came up with 1531 ft but I think that's wrong because it underdoes my Barometric pressure. I had to adjust it upward by about 0.05 inches on both units. If you have an easier way for me to calculate my exact elevation I'd appreciate it Chris. Here are the two numbers I used. Absolute air pressure 28.55 inches Relative air pressure 30.08 inches Is the low absolute air pressure the reason I dont feel the Florida type humidity up here?

    Interesting article that would solve part of the kill mechanism of the P-T. Too difficult to compare today. We have a better continental configuration with more evolved ecosystems, a somewhat smaller basin and ice sheets+lower albedo to work with, but a sun that's 2-3% brighter. The buffer is obviously better, even if the "hothouse" ceiling has fallen a lot since then due to luminosity increases.
