Read Mt. Holly's AFD AFD from KPHI - and the 0Z GFS is hinting at the Northern disturbance possibly connecting with the LP to the south if the trough sharpens more some parts of the area could see some snow. It just seems to want to snow this season - its snowing here now and there was only a 20 % chance - ground is covered again along with cars
-
I think until we get a decent snow event that comes to fruition there will be cliff jumpers any time there’s even the most slight projected warmup
-
Everything is white even the sidewalks, slippery too. Light snow still falling. 21f.

January 2026 OBS and Discussion

Yeah. Maybe what fell at first for me was melting before the temperature dropped. Per KFRG's hourly temps, and from what I've gathered here about the timing, looks like the temps were just above freezing for hours before the event, was about 35 at the outset and 28 by the time it ended. -

Well, it was second warmest going by whatever was the official site at the time. https://www.weather.gov/bou/Denver_Monthly_Extremes. 2025 is in there now as #2. I'll have to look into 1933-34- historically a very important period, as the wetter decades that led many to farm in eastern CO abruptly ended as the Dust Bowl began, in the middle of the Great Depression. What an anomaly! I guess we could have it worse. Hopefully we don't get a 1934 this year. Would be interesting to look at analogs. -

Dusting of snow in Allentown from this little blob on the radar. Airport will probably report like .1” or .2” if anything. -

Light snow officially a car topper here. 22f humidity 52% dew point 7f -
Well the GEFS the last 2-3 runs is really moving towards the GEPS/EPS in the D8-10 period ejecting the trof/building the ridge out near the west coast.

Absolutely - way too much benefit given to SEC schools. Bama got annihilated by Indiana - I think plenty of the top schools of other conferences would've at least put up a better fight (we know for a fact this would've been the case for other Big 10 schools). Hell - JMU probably puts up more points than Bama lol. The SEC favoritism - which crept into basketball last season (they are not nearly as strong this year) - is ridiculous.
-
Still have light snow falling here in Royal Oak, started around 4:30 PM here.
-
How long until the cliff jumpers lose their minds over a warmup that'll be over in less than a week?
-
Yep, I'm just tickled that the 'upper guard' that the media can't stop drooling over is now out. IMO Alabama should have never made it with 3 losses.
-
I guess that makes the SEC 4-8 in bowls now? A win for 'Ol Miss and a loss for Georgia? Impressive considering they played 2 of the games against EACH OTHER.
-
It should be a reminder that anytime there’s been a chance for snowflakes that it has happened just about every time. I think that means a season is going well…
-
optimal result IMO. Alabama gets waxed, Ole Miss wins. I generally hate the SEC, but the way Kiffin left Ole Miss was horrible. I hope they are enjoying this.
