I finally got a tenth of an inch of rain today. It's starting to get mighty dry around the Valley. Hopefully we'll see more chances the next several days.

You get screwed almost every time the low/mid level winds are westerly. I don't recall the exact setup back in June when your area was getting clobbered, but I bet the winds were from the E/SE.

I do believe Newark is representative of its area but not for our area as a whole. You just have to look at the summer of 1993 to see that. Although Newark's hottest summers match my own area's they are always a few degrees hotter. In 1993, Newark had 9 100+ days while NYC had 3 (in a row) and JFK had 2 (in a row.) This was before the siting issues. You can even go back to 1949 when Newark had 8 100+ days while NYC had 5 99+ days. Newark has almost always been a few degrees hotter than Central Park, even before the siting issues. As a matter of fact, going by number of 90 degree days, Newark closely matches Philadelphia, so I'd say their summer climate is more like Philadelphia than it is New York City-- which makes sense, since it is inland.

Omg I passed out that summer from the humidity. There were two very hot days in May and then one on the last day of August the only times it reached 90. But the day I passed out was not hot, but very humid. My nightmare kind of a day. Overcast all day with a temperature of 81 degrees and a relative humidity of 100% (81 DP). Do you remember this day Chris, I think it was in July? I was commuting back from college and as soon as I got home I got very lightheaded couldn't hear a sound saw all white in front of my eyes and everything around me was in slow motion. Luckily I was almost home and was able to stumble inside and pass out on my floor.

Over 2” in under a hour with more to come. Definitely some flooding going to be occurring across parts of the state. We grabbed 1.41” earlier from the lone cell in AA Co. Should crack 2” in total once this batch from the southwest blows through

For as strong as the SPV was last year there was very little connection at times to the TPV throughout the winter otherwise we would have progressed volume wise fairly similarly to the early 2020's.

This would have been a solid sea ice retention year the way things have progressed so far but we are starting at such a low point unfortunately you will continue to be well below normal even in the best of times. I think if the pattern holds we should escape some of the lowest values recorded but not a good situation continues to get worse. Look at where we are volume wise compared to the last few years, which have shown some of the lowest values outside of 2007/12

Radar looks pretty.ominous for the storms coming in to st Mary's county. Sitting on the front porch in Calvert waiting for them to roll across the river. Can already hear thunder. It's gonna be heavy.
