Feb 10-11 Mid Week Minor Event - Ride the hot hand?
dryslot replied to HoarfrostHubb's topic in New England
Still looks like a 3-5" event up here, Been in a snow hole the past few weeks, No changes. -
Longitude obv plays a role too. New England is unique in that it sticks out into the Atlantic. So eastern areas have easier access to a large moisture source to their south and east. But latitude def matters too. But I’d agree in the monsters that longitude might be more important.

I know you’re a hater but very smart, but what are you trying to accomplish by insulting people? . -

1-3 spot 4 . Let’s see what Reggie says -
He’s SW of me. Most of the discrepancies from ‘15 and then in Jan of 22 had nothing to do with latitude though. It was eastern developers and late bloomers and such.

Tents are pretty cheap -
A lot of it latitude too. Most of E MA is well north of you and Wolfie’s area. Kevin in Tolland is basically the same latitude as Tblizz-Brett. Some of the SW CT posters are even south of the cape’s latitude.

AI ensemble did not look good. Basically it’s EPS ensemble and that’s really pushing it. I hope it comes back, but instead of going to Epicosity, we go soft.

Gonna be a nowcast for that convective stuff. It’s been jumping a bit on short term guidance in both position and magnitude. This could end up being one of those systems that looks great on radar but not that good in ground truth. Well find out soon enough. -
Ehh Not always…they’ve had their clunkers too. I’m in a good spot seasonally right now…so I’m happy at the moment. I did real well in the big one here(18*), and I’m at 42” YTD with 50” as climo. So it’s all good. In these recent bad years…they’ve been worse than here imo…just ask Scott and Brett.

Here are some maps from the Weeklies which just ran....The first three are control runs. The last is the ensemble 500 map. Snow signal is showing up at the end of February and into early March. This model has been pretty consistent with that look. This is not a warm look, and this is what we were seeing similar to the last two cold air masses which came into the eastern half of the US. Could winter be over? Sure. But there are multiple examples of winter which just kind of hangs on...similar to endless summer.
