ChescoWx
Happy Friday! In the past I used to have some folks even here on Americanwx suggest my East Nantmeal Davis VP2 runs too cool (some here used to say the East Nantmeal Icebox etc.) thinking I might have a siting or equipment issue, I ran the numbers. I would welcome any pushback on the method or the results. I used only stations that report on a midnight to midnight day, so morning and evening COOP observation times do not skew the comparison. That gives 20 Chester County Area stations: the DEOS network, KPTW, KMQS, KOQN and the Avondale 2N Climate Reference Network site. Against Avondale USCRN, the best reference we have, over 7,198 days with data from both stations (2007 to now), my highs run 1.4 degrees cooler and my lows run 1.4 degrees warmer. The average difference is +0.01 degrees. That is the classic upland elevation based signature at 678 FT: cooler afternoons, and milder nights as cold air drains off the hill. A poorly sited station usually shows the opposite, with cold nights in a frost hollow or cool afternoons only on sunny days from shade. Across the full network since 2012 my average is 0.68 degrees below the network mean. The USCRN site is 0.63 below, and Warwick DEOS, my nearest neighbor, is 0.56 below. Daily highs line up with elevation at about 5 degrees per 1,000 ft. Mine sit 0.7 degrees below that line, about where the other aspirated sensors (USCRN and the KPTW ASOS) also sit. A cheap passive-shield station on a pole right next to my Davis reads highs 3 degrees warmer, and 3.3 degrees warmer on sunny days. Most backyard stations people compare against use passive shields, so an aspirated sensor will usually look cool next to them in the afternoon. Let me know if any questions or if you see anything that does not hold up (see detail below) as I have always strived to show the most accurate possible data for the climate here in good old Chesco! Please consider coming back in here and sharing that. But leave this for the dedicated thread.

Only thing I'll say on this whole topic since I only just now saw all these CC posts but half your posts are always about how 'erm actually the science is wrong' in most of your posts lol Also you say you'll take everything over to the Climate Change thread and then right after that just continue to respond in a passive aggressive manner about it and telling people how they're wrong and you're right. It's just always been bizarre to me that just because Chester County hasn't really warmed all that much that that means the rest of the world hasn't either. It's classic not IMBY. If it's not happening to me it's not happening to anyone else. I don't live that far from you I fucking wish it hasn't gotten as hot as it has here over the decades. But it is always fascinating to watch people jump through endless hoops in their head about how something that's real isn't actually real. I used to be a staunch climate change denier when I was a teenager but then I grew up and educated myself as well as just casually comparing how life was locally when I was a kid in the 90's/2000's compared to how it is now in the 2020's. Just my local observations were what convinced me eventually. I wish it was like how it was 30 years ago but it's not anymore. Anyway not speaking about this topic anymore but I feel like I'm a bit more vested in chiming in about it since I've been on both sides of the argument in my life where as most people have only picked one and stuck with it. I'd say I don't lean to one extreme or the other like some. I try and keep my views on the whole subject level headed and free of fearmongering and sensationalism. But when you see people on both sides argue this subject you really start to realize just how little either side understands it as a whole despite them claiming they do. Okay too much rambling that's enough of this dumb shit lol

Mount Joy Snowman
Low of 34. Despite being under a freeze warning, still no freeze/frost here. Likely one of those instances where I’m juuuuust elevated enough to avoid the worst of the cold. Playing golf this afternoon for what will likely be the final time of the year. Have a great weekend everyone.

ChescoWx
Lows this morning ranged from the upper 20's to lower 40's depending on elevation. Most valley spots saw temperatures below freezing this morning.

Okay too much rambling that's enough of this dumb shit lol Thanks Dream! excellent post and great points! I like you was on the opposite side of the fence but switched to the more benign view of CC. Just to be clear I of course believe in Climate Change that is scientific fact! I simply believe in the cyclical version plus I don't buy the one way ticket to boiling etc. that some of the more passionate alarmists lean into. Superstorm
I don’t like getting into climate change discussions because people want to make it political. But being a mechanical engineer and scientist I know two things….climate change is real and we (humans) have added to that the change. How much we have impacted CC vs the earths normal cyclical waves, I can’t tell you.. 1
