Interesting rain shower this morning in Adelphi driving the kids to school. It came out of nowhere. Looking at the sky you just saw cirrus clouds and blue. We weren't under any nimbus or low deck clouds. Just blue sky with wispy clouds and it was a moderate rain shower for like a few minutes. You could see the rain in the sky but above and around it was blue and cirrus. First time I experienced that.

Had that here too but also heard some rumbles of thunder as a few of the showers passed.

Had a decent thundershower in the last half hour here.  My son is at work in Martinsburg and called to say large hail is accumulating there.

lol I was tempted to get a clunky meniscus bike ride in over at the shed but chose hoops. Prob still would have made it back in time, but radar does look interesting. The humidity this summer has been something else.

RadarScope showing some 2.5” accumulation markers around WV exit 12 on I-81.  Almost all of that in the past 30 minutes.

FFW-C out for Martinsburg. Weak supercell is just stalled over the SW side of the city.

My daughter is at the Dick’s Sporting Goods in Martinsburg, waiting out the storm.  Says water is coming through the roof and into the store in multiple places.  Says the hail is the largest she’s ever seen.

Latest STW is now mentioning ping-pong ball size.

@wxmeddleri asked but she didn’t know for sure.  And wasn’t willing to go outside to check lol.  Said it was so loud in the store she couldn’t hear people talking to her.

Edit- and now she just texted to say power just went out.  I’m 8 miles away I see sunny skies after 0.40” earlier.

She was under the worst core. Practically ground zero for rain/hail. Have her send a video so you can post it here later and we all be jealous of her.

If you go onto 511WV and click on the I-81 cameras in and around Martinsburg, you can actually see the hail/rain falling.

I see a report of quarter sized hail from a spotter as well as utility wires downed

That storm has been eating very well, I can tell you that much. Starting to cross the mountains now.

Kind of evolving into a slow moving MCV. A decently strong but also broad mesocyclone aloft.
