Morning guidance definitely did not suggest that we’d be screwed north of DC with round 1.  But now with round 2 this evening focusing south and tomorrow favoring areas to the south more, I’m very concerned that we’re going to be disappointed with our total.

Always the split. The line over Kent Island just misses and the line over VA will go poof as it approaches. Seems to be the general rule for the midshore.

Some nice cracks of thunder to the west. Looks like the goods will go south but its close. Hopefully I can get some scraps of moderate rain with this batch. See how it goes with the stuff further west later.

Catching the edge of the stuff to my south. Eating dinner on the deck under the umbrella under sprinkles and hearing all the planes out of Dulles taking off this way due to the storms to the south.

Classic stormy summer evening here in the lowlands. It's been steady heavy rain and loud thunder for the past 90 minutes. Radar looks fantastic for DC, PG, and most of AA south of BWI.

Disintegrating on the doorstep lol. Same old. Perhaps a sprinkle or some drizzle. What a horrific forecast from Mount Holly this morning. 1-2" lol. You would think in situations like this they would just go with the standard 'tenth of an inch or less except in thunderstorms' wording. The activity upstream is gonna crush areas south of here. Probably comes down to tomorrow, which also favors areas just south. Low key rooting for exceptional drought category at this point lol. I have never seen that here before.

I am further north. NW of Greensboro. Hearing some nice thunder from the storm just missing to my south! Broken record since April.

Some pretty decent damage a couple miles from me in Burke. Looks like tornado damage to me, but I’m curious to see what the official reports say.

Been dry as hell, so it’s been a great afternoon despite our swim meet being cancelled.

Booming thunder. Looks like Ridgely 3 miles to my SW will get hit pretty good. Be interesting to compare the Mesonet site there to my station lol. Looks like I should see at least some moderate rain.

     Nope.   The ongoing stratiform rain over us is what I was calling "round 2", and the HRRR seems to have a very good handle on this.    After this ends soon, I think we have to wait until tomorrow morning.

The worst is sinking a bit south but heavy rain looks like a good bet.
