Dare I say it - best climo ever? I may not be north enough to be considered far but I'm furious this rainy week will dim my spring jollies. The lack of sun is killing the mood. I don't buy this, but TWN doesn't give me a partly sunny day until Apr 21!!! With the last 3 weeks being mostly dark gloom, many of us near the lakes would go stark raving mad with a wem that bad.

cyclone77
Looks like storms will mostly stay north and east today like yesterday. We'll give it another shot tomorrow with that next round.

Brian D
+DR(-RN) under overcast skies with a lake breeze and a 37 temp. ISH! But it is April (mud month). Most of the snow is gone except for some piles, and large drifts here in town. Montreal River over on the WI/UP MI border flooding right now, too, closing roads/bridges. After the clouds from the morning rain cleared, we shot up to 83 (predicted 77). We've hit the low 80's a couple of times, but without the dews. cyclone77
Managed to scrounge up 0.54" from the early morning elevated leftovers. Brings April up to 4.78". Today/this evening has been looking like our best shot for heavy rains all along, and still looks that way.
Brian D
Eeked out about 0.10" of rain yesterday from the heavy drizzle, and shwrs/stms that developed over the area. Was nice to have stms for a change. Geese have been trickling back into the area as well as flocks of tweety birds. No robin sightings yet, but that'll come soon. Chicago Storm
ORD had a low temp of 62° on April 13th, which tied the record high min temp for the date of 62° (1941). ORD received 2.43" of precip on April 14th, which broke the record precip total for the date of 1.21" (1949).
hawkeye_wx
Another 0.45" this morning boosted my April total to 5.39". This is the most rain I've received in the first half of April in the last twenty years. Only four years in that period have full-month April totals higher than this year's first half.
KeenerWx
Should get a round two of boomers late tonight. Not counting on anything svr, but perhaps some enjoyable night time acoustics. House windows have been opened the past couple of days and it’s been wonderful.
cyclone77
Not surprised that there's a tornado warning north of Dixon. Those showers moved over here an hour or so ago and even when they were weak you could see everything had nice blocky bases. LCLs are pretty low in northern IL as well. (5.20” since January 1) Looking at the TH co-op, they've only measured 2.69" YTD, but the CoCoRahs site at Flood Bay NE of town has 6.43". Other sites in the area around here are about the same or more. Issues there at the co-op.

weatherbo
This is by far the nicest day since last Autumn. Zero wind and 64. The sun feels so good. lol The melt had been slow with cool temps and fog for the past week but has accelerated the past two days. Going to check out some waterfalls this weekend but will likely do it with some snow showers around. Measuring 32" off the driveway this afternoon... and going quick.

Jackstraw
Bone dry here. no significant precip (a couple hundreths here and there) since the 5th/6th. Wind gets above 25 and we've got mini dust storms out here. Pretty crazy. Feels like a desert island. I've got grass that took off thats showing brown because its dry. Hopefully some relief overnight. Timing of these systems lately just suck. By the time they get here we're into overnight hours and lose all forcing. Had one setup (Sweetster hail) where storms trained N and S missing us completely. I could watch both lines from my porch as outflow winds blew through making small dustnado's. My well level is about 4ft below normal. I'm really getting fascinated by micro climates and if theres trends in certain small areas and if there are, what could be the causes. My current problem is not uncommon for this area. We shall see
