You got a source on this I want to share if it's confirmed.

Also I am absolutely numb and in shock from what happened today. I never expected this to happen.

No one did. Reminds me of the November 2002 Van Wert, OH tornado, the environment in no way seemed supportive of that sort of twister yesterday. The ice on the lake caps it off

Round two for basically the whole area Tuesday

NAM and experimental CAMS have been quite consistent on a high-end parameter space developing over northern Illinois Tuesday afternoon/evening, with a signal for discrete convection able to take advantage of it. At this time I'm planning for it to be my first chase of the year.

Hoping the cap holds tonight so we can get a better TOR threat tomorrow, SPC and IWX are thinking sig tors are possible if there's not a ton of morning crapvection

If morning convection is mostly elevated and north of I-96 there will be more pristine soundings.  A squall line coming through from the west too early in the day is also a problem.

CAMS (apart from the ever-aggressive RRFS-A) have generally kept southern Wisconsin dry overnight, and the 00Z HRRR continues that trend. Not sure why were still in SPC's slight risk.

Yeah, 00z HRRR says “what storms tomorrow?”.

Literally nothing but a few showers and then storms south of the MI/IN/OH line in the evening.

This is like after 20 minutes too fwiw

Same here by Oak Brook. This was about 20 mins later also. Best hail so far this year. Light show was top notch.

Been a while a storm like this hit in March imby. Definitely one of the best ones In awhile.

Not sure another one will hit like this with the hail but if anything tops this coming up this summer it would have to be a totg or top tier derecho etc

Storms really weakened as they approached, but still got a good soak and quality booms.

Was kind of dud except for Northern Lower and SW of Chicago.

Hoping to get some thunder from the final line sinking south, if the tail end even holds together.  Don’t need rain IMBY and more chances coming Thirsday at least.

Apparently there were a lot of wind gusts well over 60 mph under light stratiform rains over W Michigan between 12:30 and 2:00 AM.

I don’t know for sure, but it seems like a possible wake low (or other mesoscale phenomenon) from weakening storms to the SW mixed strong synoptic winds down to the surface.  These were warm winds with temperature up close to 70 degrees a, good 15 degrees above the dewpoint, so definitely not cool outflow.
