Its not believing DTs rule it's just an oddity. Brian has that straight scientific mind unable to pick up on coincidence I’m not saying there can’t be a coincidence there. Xmas eve is climatologically warmer too. I’ve never analyzed the percentage of NESIS or KU storms on the weekend. I’m just telling you what Dave’s old theory was. Brian has that straight scientific mind unable to pick up on coincidence Not discounting it...I think it makes a lot of sense as to why there likely is a correlation between certain weather events and day of week and even day of year. Weather systems generally (And I use this term a bit loosely) move through the flow at a specific speed as do ridge/trough propagation. If you look back at our historic periods, most of the big storms during them all tended to fall on or around the same date...like remember 2015 or maybe it was 2013...it was every Wednesday. weatherwiz
Think about it too like during the summer, we've had some summers where we've seen to get cold fronts to always come through around the same day each week, especially when the pattern isn't deviating much. SouthCoastMA
I deleted my ad hoc math because it didn't make sense. If records were kept over a longer time..it would probably smooth out to an even distribution. 2

Nobody believed our Grinch climo until we showed the odd temp increase the 22nd to 24th. That's science The weekend stuff is an oddity but the fact the top5 NESIS storms were weekend storms is against all odds so there's that.

dendrite
There’s almost always statistical anomalies. The 61 ball in Powerball has been drawn 1.7x more than the 13 ball since 2015.

ORH_wxman
Icon is a warm outlier for Monday but as long as we’re talking model solutions, it’s def rain for almost all of SNE at the height of the storm.
