This backbuilding / snow rotating in from the NE, totals of half a foot beyond what was forecast - I don't recall the possibility even being discussed for our any part of our area, and usually every possibility is discussed.  Was it always expected, but just expected to occur further east?

No model showed the twin forks getting 6-9” of snow. Hoping those bands keep pushing west…

These inverted trough setups are very fickle and sometimes work out/sometimes don’t. This looked to be one for a few days that could work out and models did a good job focusing on the places that would do well. Ratios are also very high in the places that could get good snow growth in the banding some people in E CT/parts of MA will get 12”. Boston will probably make it to 6”. Too bad it couldn’t get together a little sooner and blast more of us.

I’ve never seen it snow this long with the sun out. Truly like the arctic now. Snow, blowing snow and 14

We’ll see, honestly haven’t been paying too much attention. By Wed hopefully we’ll have a better idea. If we’re going to a -PNA we always risk overrunning setups and warming us up at our latitude too much. Maybe the -NAO can help redevelop the storm in time for us.

The storm comes at a time when a -PNA is developing and a west coast trough is digging. That naturally pumps the heights to rise in the east. I think a cutter is a big risk here. On the flip side, if that energy in the southwest never ejects, then this would become sheared out and so far south out of our area. Such is the problems of the 2020s, (aside from a few exceptions in 2021, 2022, and 2026). I'd expect either a cutter, or a sheared out mess to our south

Plus extremely marginal temps for the next event. What separates this one from all the others we’ve had so far is the lack of entrenched arctic air. Wouldn’t surprise me if we end up with an all rain event

This has been a solid winter. Snow and cold in December, minor warm up in January with more snow and sustained cold to preserve the coverage and now cold and snow again. I’ll take this any winter, they don’t often work out this way on the east end. Yeah, another 10”-14” shot would be great but if nothing else materializes this has still been fantastic for lasting snow coverage and cold. Gotta enjoy and appreciate it!
