We dodged a major bullet across Unicoi county last night.  Much warmer than modeled. (The CAD downsloping fingers never really helped much).

Most of my glaze is gone. But I've had several wind gusts at 30mph this morning and my Davis is fairly well protected from this direction of wind. It's ripping.

I like how they give you a pleasant and comforting image with their outage map:

Better have another fireball shot, it's the only responsible thing to do.

Exactly. Doing the same.
Also cooking bacon eggs biscuits and 2 packs of chicken and 2 packs of steaks so we’ve got something cooked already.

Charcoal and propane grills ready just in case

Here in West Knoxville we still have 32 and rain.  All our Ice is still on the trees.  The Temperature has been very stubborn refusing to rise. I am sure we are about to go up anytime.

Right after I posted this quote It started raining hard and our temp spiked.  We are in sudden melt mode.

The biggest story will likely be the power losses and frigid cold that follows.  It’s unfortunate to sit here and know many in the power loss areas won’t be prepared.  With SO many outages across multiple states, it will stretch the massive resources that were called to be ready.  God bless these linemen….

32 here in Fountain City/Knoxville. Heavy rain washing away the mixed bag of donuts we received yesterday. Yard is just pure slop.

The bigger story is the level of pouting from our two 90# dogs who don’t understand why they cant go outside and play. If they had thumbs, and could use a cell phone, I have no doubt we would have already been turned in to PETA/ASPCA

I went to bed really late last night, just getting up and I'm stunned that it's still freezing rain and 32. This is insane, but kind of the way I tend to think of ice storms, they are stubborn. I half expected it to be tropical this morning from some of the models.

That Trowel that you are showing will be moving NE and by the time we get air cold enough to produce snow it should be well north-east of us, correct?  I have just about enough meteorological knowledge to make me dangerous.

Yeah it will be NW of probably even extreme NW TN. Just pointing it out since I already had made the image.

Roads in west Tennessee are about as bad as I’ve ever seen them.  Snow, sleet and ice have heavily impacted the area.  Folks along the Mississippi/Tennessee border look to have the worst ice damage. Reports of power outages across the county in different rural areas.  Saw some info come out of Oxford Mississippi and it looks like they got the brunt of the ice storm, Holly springs area as well was hit pretty bad with ice. That 2nd wave came through last night and doubled sleet totals with some snow mixed in.  Probably have .20-.30 ice accumulation where I’m at north west of Bolivar with
