Yeah GFS caved on this one big time from Philly to central NJ. Last run has Central NJ with almost all sleet. Looks like south of NYC is the cutoff zone. This thing wraps up pretty quickly too, should be finished by 4 AM.

what are you talking about ?  you know something actual professionals don't ?

Unless there is a coming hurricane I don’t stock up on food.

Its like a self fulfilling prophecy. People hear snow and think everyone is going to go the store and they're going to run out of the basics so then everyone goes to the store and they run out of the basics.

most americans throw tons of food away each year. stocking up just means more for the sanitation crews to pick up when it goes bad. can't tell you how many bags of mozzarella, tubs of sour cream and cream cheese, freakin tofu my wife buys, that we throw out from costco every month. you can only eat so many bagels. i now order cold cuts by the slice, not the pound. they aren't even good after a day in the fridge. that said, who wants to shop in the snow? i was at costco for the last storm and it was nuts; i did need a new shovel, and they were nearly out....i'm ready to go for this one.

I tend to make several trips a week and buy as much fresh as I can so I dont have to waste anything. I hate throwing food away

Anyway back to the storm

i have the sense the expiration dates are much sooner than they used to be; but i have no proof of this.

I've never understood it-how long are you snowed in at your house?  Maybe half a day tops?

Very few times I saw grocery store / supply chain issues.  The BIG ones.  Blizzard of 96 stands out as it covered large area from DC to New England and trucks were stopped and roads were clogged for 1-2 days after the storm.  March 93, same thing.  Sandy was another.  These "little" storms are an and inconvenience for a few hours.  We have enough leftovers in the house right now to last a week.  I wouldn't go near a grocery store today if I was down to my last can of soup.

Really takes a massive storm to disrupt an area these days.  The larger of an area it affects the more likely it is to be disruptive to supply chain.

We don't live on the plains of Kansas in 1930...we will make it for a day without being able to get to a grocery store.  Just nuts all the panic and mad rush.

what a roller coaster here... i thought you were on board for something bigger when i read your earlier takes....

When it gets to game time he lowers his expectations so if what is forecasted doesn't verify he isn't hurt. But going back to 4-8 still seems right based on all guidance for NYC which is what the Upton Winter storm warning had before bumping to 5-9 overnight.

Hes siding with the Euro/NAM camp. It’s go time, time to throw out the globals and focus on short term/nowcast.
