Similar temperatures to yesterday across the area with temperatures warming by Tuesday to well into the 70's to near 80 degrees. We then turn cooler for the rest of the week. The good news is our chances of rain are starting to increase by late Tuesday, and showers will be in the forecast for most of the rest of the week. Most models paint between 0.50" to 1.25" across the area. Let's hope this comes to pass.

We will see humidity levels creeping up over the next couple of days. Today will be dry with temperatures well into the 70's. We will again be in the upper 70's to near 80 degrees tomorrow especially across valley locales. Rain chances start to ramp up by tomorrow night and those rain chances will stay with us for the rest of the week and through next weekend. A blend of all models sees between 1.5 to 2.0 inches of needed rain by Sunday morning. Of course, just like we don't shovel model snow - we can't count on model rain to deliver.

Drenching downpours are coming in the next two days says the drought guy. Million dollar rains for landscapers and for fall colors

The NWS continues to forecast between 1.5" to 2.0" of rain across much of the area by Friday morning. Western areas of Chester County could see some beneficial rain starting this evening...further east chances look to be less. Rain chances really increase by late Wednesday night through Thursday. With the rain it will be relatively warm and humid for late September with little range in temperatures from PM highs to AM lows mainly in the mid to upper 70's for highs and the low to mid 60's for low temperatures. We start to dry out a bit on Friday before we clear out and turn cooler by Sunday.

Take a look at what happens on the 0z models in the western Atlantic. Two hurricanes form simultaneously and get very close to each other. It looks like high pressure will prevent the western one from moving up the coast but still, this could be a very rare situation to observe starting this weekend.

Some early morning fog across the area after the rain from last evening. Today should be dry but cloudy with highs well above normal approaching 80 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms increase again later tonight and especially tomorrow into tomorrow night. Shower chances lessen but can't be ruled out Friday and Saturday before finally drying out on Sunday. Current forecasts indicate another 1.25" to 2.00" of beneficial rain could fall across much of the area.

Humberto yea moves towards Bermuda then out to sea.  I am pretty sold on that.

 

However, what is south of Puerto Rico I am not so sure.  That would become Tropical Storm Imelda.

I would think Imelda is a threat to the United States East Coast South Carolina to New England.

Humberto leaves stage right then high pressure builds and traps Imelda forcing Imelda toward the United States East Coast next week.

Time to watch, I think.

I am always weary of tropical systems developing in September and October down near Puerto Rico Hatti because chances are they are heading up the east coast with troughness around to our west and high pressure to the east.

We have picked up another 0.14" since midnight bringing our 3-day rain total here in East Nantmeal to 0.77" of much needed rain. Looking downstream more rain is on the way later this morning. The NWS has a forecast potential of another 0.50" to 1.00" by later tonight. We get a break tomorrow before rain chances increase again by Saturday night. Temperatures look to remain above normal levels for the end of September, but we start to cool down by early next week and we will see highs by Wednesday in the 60's with 40's returning for morning lows by the middle of next week as we start Red October! Go Phillies!!

I'm pretty old and don't recall a tropical set up like this.  It will be really interesting to watch.

Obviously too early to say if we'll be affected by the tropics in any way, but at least it's the first thing to track since last winter.
