Got a bunch in around even money on 6+ for the month and 10+ at about 3:1 several hours ago...odds have significantly changed since lol

Was just able to sell at 88% of the total payout without a flake falling. Don't need to worry about any last second bad trends the other way. Gonna sprinke some on 20+

I'm driving up from Raleigh to DC on Saturday and DC to Manhattan on Sunday, looks like y'all yous guys are finally gonna give me the storm I fuckin needed. The dry slot over MBY last storm damn near killed me. I'll be in New York all next week...stoked. I lived in Mt Holly NJ from 2008-2011 and got to experience the crazy 2009-2010 season where we got like 24" in one storm then another 8" and in Dec it was ~12-18" or so, I can't remember exactly...but it was epic. Bringing my lady too who was born and raised in NC and is not used to legit NE snows....please please please let this pan out another 12-18" lol

Stay here, and give me a detailed report after how it goes. Trust me-make it happen. It's 50 min from Penn Station. Allegria Hotel - ReservationDesk.com

whichever way it goes this is an all-timer for the GFS, you’re going to hear “remember feb 2026?” at some point every winter the rest of your life

Didn’t the GFS hold onto the follow up storm after 1/25 a bit too long as well? It was the last to trend out to sea; that was definitely in my head all week. Expecting it to finally cave, and it didn’t. Crazy times.

Accuweather going super conservative still calling for 6-10 inches here with a blizzard warning underneath for 20-24. Wow, I’ve never seen a disparity like that and I’ve always considered Accuweather decent for snow - they must be very bearish.

I’m in Seaside at the moment with my parents but same in TR / Manchester, 6-10.

So the Blizzard of '26 begins as light rain.  As Joe Beradelli says, "The devil is in the details".  Is the western ridge positioned correctly?  Is the high to our north oriented for favorable cold air?  Where will the dry slot form?  Will the dry slot be too large?  Many things to consider besides just model agreement.

As stated before, I hate the term "banding".  Most convective systems produce "waves" of varying degrees of intensity of the precipitation.  When I think of banding, I tend to think more in terms of deformation zones, points of occlusion, ocean air warm fronts, etc.  Throwing banding out there is just a cop out. Models are crunching areas of higher precipitation, like eastern Monmouth County in NJ and Staten Island.  Will we have winds of 35 mph or more for greater than 3 hours across a major portion of the region, or will this be confined to just eastern parts of Long Island or the Jersey shore?  Since the potential exists, the NWS is obligated to issue the warning.  But as some mets know, wind is perhaps the most overly "exaggerated" feature forecast by the models.  We shall see shortly.  Probably my last best chance of a major snow storm before my move down to Tennessee.  Best of luck to all...

Lol! What is NYC communist China now? If you got to travel, you got to travel. Tell em to kick rocks.

Actually back in the day when they called a State of Emergency in NJ, like in the Blizz of 96, the general public was not allowed to travel! We had the NG driving around

I don't think a travel ban is enforceable, per se. What they're really saying/warning is that if you go out and get stuck, you'll be on your own for a while. You won't be considered an emergency call.

Mayor said basically that at the press conference. They did this for the last blizzard warning. I think the trains were shut down then too.

I drove to work that morning. Granted, I'm exempt from travel bans. But there were alot of other people on the roads. And I saw nobody getting pulled over, or turned around. It would probably be Unconstitutional if ever brought before Supreme Court?

No it wouldn’t. Governments do have the right to shut down roadways to non-essential traffic during emergencies.
