Newark (interiors of NJ/se NYS/CT) Sun-Wed June 22-25 possibly hottest 3-4 day period this year (2025) with 2-4 100F+ days, possibly hottest June daily. NYC probably one 100 deg. HI exceeds 105 interior M-T June 23-24.

Maybe that will get fixed when they fix this place so more than just flip phone users can easily post photos. 80 at 9pm up here actually feels cool.

1.9mb image limit is absolutely absurd

the megabyte limit for pictures needs to be lifted, even resizing them isn't enough, I can get my 16 megapixel images down to 1 megapixel and they still exceed the storage limit.

90-100-103-99 last 4 days impressive as it comes

only twice has NYC had three consecutive triple digit streaks, in July 1966 and in July 1993 (my favorite heatwave).

the number of times that JFK has had two consecutive triple digit streaks

August 1948

July 1966 (three straight)

July 1993

July 2010 (three days out of four)

July 2011

June 2025

July 1966 probably had the most impressive triple digit streak with July 1993 and August 1948 tied for second. July 2010 and July 2011 right behind those and then this one.

Seems like if you take a screenshot of the original image it then works

Not on laptop. I need to resize and blah blah blah. It's a pain in the ass.

Before I wanted to post a cool radar loop of the sea breeze but it was 6mb so that was a negative.

The image limits are appropriate for 15 years ago.

screenshots also lower image quality (depending on what kind of image you're trying to post)

I work for PSE&G in New Brunswick since Monday we received a record for us by a looong shot 927 No AC calls. My 50 year old body is beat up, I love the heat but by 4,5:00 it gets hard to keep going, and we been going till 9 almost every night.

This was the strongest heatwave in our area that was ever recorded during the month of June. We had widespread 103° readings from NJ to Baiting Holllow on Eastern Long Island with multiple 105° readings in Queens. This may be the first 103° ever recorded on Eastern Long Island.

The other thing on the list below is how these heatwaves have become earlier in the season. We haven’t one in August since 2006 and September since 1953.

103°+ heatwaves since 1936 and local maximum temperatures

June 2025…..105°

June 2021…..103°

July 2012……104°

July 2011……108°

July 2010…..108°

August 2006…103°

July 2005….103°

August 2001….105°

July 1999…..104°

July 1995…..104°

July 1993…..105°

July 1977……104°

July 1966….107°

August 1955….103°

September 1953…..105°

July 1949…..105°

July 1948…..103°

July 1936….106°

Topping off Bluewave post above: NEVER before have we been able to accurately highlight heatwaves locally 5-7 days in advance.  A final from myself (which may have already posted?), this was the 6th warmest 3 day max temp average in Newarks POR dating back to 1931.  See attached.  I do remember June-July 2010 (see July listing in the attached) when I'd transferred to Mt Holly... a brutal summer start as I recall. Not expecting a repeat this summer but these heat wave excesses are not well modeled beyond 10 days, so cant be absolutely sure we've seen our worst but Bluewave has it right on the excesses earlier.

Have a good day and now enjoy a reasonable summer with local excesses.

The good thing about 2010 was that the humidity was very low.  Had 100+ 3 days out of 4 starting on July 4th and didn't feel it at all.  1993 takes the cake for most extreme heatwave and I see it has multiple top spots in your table. 2011 had the highest peak but was shortlived. 1966 had multiple 100+ heatwaves in NYC (June and July).

The closest thing to 1953 that I can remember was 1983 when JFK hit 100 in both July and August and then 99 in September.  But in terms of length, 1993 and 1999 are the only summers that came close to matching 1953's super heatwave in length.
