Newark (interiors of NJ/se NYS/CT) Sun-Wed June 22-25 possibly hottest 3-4 day period this year (2025) with 2-4 100F+ days, possibly hottest June daily. NYC probably one 100 deg. HI exceeds 105 interior M-T June 23-24.

New York City (Central Park) is on track to have its earliest stretch of 3 consecutive 80F (26.7C) or above lows on record. The existing record was set during July 5-8, 1908.

Has NYC had a stretch of 3 consecutive 80F lows without any 100+ highs Don?

That was such an intense and long lasting heatwave, I wonder when we'll get something like that again.....

July 2013 (I Think) was brutal for 3 weeks, then it broke and never came back

JFK Airport has reached 90F (32.2C) for the 4th consecutive day. That ties the record for the longest June heatwave. The record was set during June 25-28, 1984 and tied during June 8-11, 1984 and June 24-27, 2003.

Don was that June 8-11, 1994? I'm absolutely amazing it occurred so early!

That 1896 streak of 10 consecutive days of 90+ was our first historic super heatwave, over 1,500 people died during it.

There was no air conditioning back then and some of the nights were brutally warm, too.

Thanks, I saw this and got a little confused lol

So we had two 4 day 90+ streaks in June 1984, Don?

June 25-28 was in 1963. I typed the wrong date.

Totally forgot June 2003 had a heatwave.  I swore we had no 90s that summer until mid August.  I remember being mad the day of the blackout was the only hot day the entire summer.

And still managed to be well below average and with over 10" of rain

We're having it now. The longevity, the temperatures, the heat index,  the mins. This is by far the hottest June stretch on record in the northeast
