Surprised to see a flood watch for the island. There are some discrete cells off the jersey shore, that could consolidate as they head north.

Not seeing it. The steady heavy rain is well NW and maybe the stuff developing over coastal NJ clips eastern LI. Many of us on LI probably get the shaft zone in between.

58 / 56 light rain here / heaviest N+W. Still think we're good for 0.50 - 1.00 with areas N/W doubling or more than tripling thise amounts.  Clear out Sat and make way for a nice weekend with Mothers Day and Mon the 12th approaching or into the low 80s.  Next system cuts off into the south and slowly comes northeast between Tue - Thu with next round of rains.  Beyond there the recent timing has been kind to weekend weather with perhaps another nice weekend 17-18.   Ridging and more warmth , perhaps heat to close the last 1/3 of the month (in that period, not the whole 10 days).

Yeah I could see the east end getting crushed again while further west gets slotted. We had that super persistent area of convection off the Jersey Shore with the last event too. Must be some sort of feedback with a Gulf Stream eddy.

The extended EPS has this rainy pattern into late May. We may continue the recent years pattern of rain on at least one of the Memorial Day weekend days. As the upper low will still be near the Northeast.

This is also the anniversary of the May 2020 snow.

There was 7" at Providence RI in the May 1977 event and over a foot in the Poconos (13-17 inches.) In the May 2020 event we had 2-4 inches in the Poconos over a two day period with temperatures falling into the upper teens and wind chills near 0.

That 20" in Norwalk might be a typo for Norfolk, CT, which is in the Litchfield Hills in CT and the snowiest spot in the state.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Norwalk is low elevation right near the coast. Norfolk the opposite.

Oh look, just enough rain to wet the ground again.

Central and south Jersey going to be rising on drought monitor.

Didn't you used to live in Douglaston? Or am I mixing you up with someone else?

The rain finally developed far enough east to put us under a steady heavier rain for several hours.  We were closing in on an inch before I left and it was still raining pretty good.  It looks like we might dry slot, maybe scattered lighter showers after 10 AM or so.  But I think we've already reached at least the low side of the predictions, and the water for the plants is welcome.

The question is do you get any more or is that it?

I hope not, but it looks like some on and off showers will continue at least for the western half of nj thats on the edge of that dry slot.

Also the rain just started here and it's pretty heavy!!

Yeah I’m in West Hempstead at my gf place and it just got really dark. If we end up with any very heavy rain I’ll have to head home to monitor the basement. We had 7’ of water in it during the heavy rains August 23 when we had 10”. My landlord blamed my veggie garden for the flooding! So I have a channel cut through it now that drains out to the street. I graded the ground perfectly so I’m waiting to see how it handles some really heavy rain.
