Had about 0.3 inches in a half hour squall here, it doesn't look anything like there though. No we still have a good 2-3" left over from the last event. UlsterCountySnowZ
Julian can you take a closer look at Nam and lemme know what you think about ice threat.. Nam looks colder to me, freeze lines stays down in rockland until precip is mostly over 18z, I'm at work and can't check edit: looking at the hi res Nam, it picks the mix line better and is mostly snow north of rockland for the duration
UlsterCountySnowZ
I'd love to see this pan out, nice sweet spot over me at 15z lol
HeinzGuy
Any chance of the snowpack surviving the weekend? Currently got about 2-3" with a lot of ice in it and then another 3-5" coming tomorrow night. If the GFS is right it's gone by Sunday morning though

I can't imagine that icing would be a huge hazard, but a light glaze definitely seems possible. As an aside, the NAM has 14C 850s over us by Sunday morning. That's pretty wild for this time of year. Juliancolton
Another trend of the past few NAM runs has been to focus ascent well below the DGZ... at 12z the strongest lift was between 800 and 600mb, which was forecast to be warmer than -10C. You can still get serviceable ratios with needles, since they're prone to aggregation, but this isn't the best look for snow growth.

Juliancolton
Albany's "most likely" snowfall map is higher in some places than the "maximum potential" map... I don't really understand that.

UlsterCountySnowZ
Albany has increased totals a bit, liking 7" for me, I'd be surprised to see that much but models have trended colder today
Juliancolton
The 12z RGEM doesn't warm us above freezing until late Saturday night, even as the mid levels torch. Major CAD signature there. Thankfully we dry slot pretty quickly after the snow ends, but that starts to get worrisome for freezing rain.
