This just happened to be the first classical recording I bought while a senior in High School on vinyl and it is known as the best version available and is on remastered CD today. Winters must have been tough when this was written in 1866 as history said Tchaikovsky spent many sleepless Russian winter nights writing it and had a nervous breakdown over it. He must have been up waiting for the ECMWF to be hand drawn. If we miss this pattern change and only get a 2-3 day cold shot , then back to normal after Christmas , that would be a catastrophic failure!
