Mt holly morning disco says no rain and hints at heat infiltration due to the setup...boo hoo gloom and doomers

definitely looks like we warm up Sun-Wed, the question is how quick does the trough come back in and how does the building blocking play into that.   Nonetheless, looks like a great week of weather coming up.

agree bluewave but so far the warmer anomalies have been stronger overall.  Especially from out southern sections in CNJ on south towards philly where departures were close to +2 or greater halfway through july.  Closer to +1 - 1.5 in NYC and east,

True. While the pattern has been cooler than July 2010-2013, there is still enough of a WAR to keep

us a little above normal. But the trough in the Lakes and Midwest limits the heat potential so we

don't see the 100 degree readings of recent Julys.

LGA ....July departure...monthly high temperature..

2014....+1.1.....93........so far...

2013....+3.8.....100

2012....+3.0.....101

2011....+3.3.....104

2010....+5.7.....103

Great feeling out there! Comfy night followed by temps in the upper 70's to around 80 this afternoon with low humidity, a breeze with clouds and sun during what's typically the hottest time of the year with no real heat in sight.

Fair (and cool) weather poster.

A bit cold for your kind no? only 78 at noon...no heat waves in sight..i'll take it

Tue - Thu next week could see 3 days of 90 degrees before the next cooldown.  Nothing prolonged cool or hot, but overall warmer continues.

Since June 1, there has been 1 day at Central Park with a 5 or greater negative departure (July 4th with Arthur). 9 days with 5 or greater positive departures.

And this is supposed to be a cool summer so far. Central Park also records muted highs because of the overgrowth so the numbers you listed are even more meaningful. Thanks for the stats.

No sign of any big warm up or heat ridge in the northeast at least through the end of July. Today's 12z GEFS ensembles keep a mean trough in the east. Wash, rinse, repeat of what we've been seeing all season.

I'll buy that.  Not a big fan of the last few Julys, so hoping that the real heat will be kept in abeyance, at least into August, when the sun gets lower.
