i like this new kevin posting and accepting reality.  Soon we will see the ides of morch and we will be tickling 75 on these mild up by mid morch. this summer we can route for the drought and heat to return with renewed vigor. 100 degree days become numerous and the dust bowl visits mt. tolland. i look forward to this death by heat

We have had big mildups before. This is nothing new

The problem is the lack of storms. Such weakness

So what if my 3" melts/washes away. I will get more at some point

maybe I'm misremembering..but I don't recall massive 50's multiple times each winter like we've had the last 5 years or so. Sure we might get a Lakes rider..and scream some sou easterlies like in 96..but that would be like 6-12 hours..not this multi day BS..that jus annihilates winter

I haven't accepted anything. I'm just disappointed in the turn of events we've seen the last 36 hours. Still time to go back the other way

I dunno dude.. I was really thinking and looking forward to an exciting couple of weeks until mid-late Feb and today's runs and ens really took some of my enthusiasm away.

Why can't we just a run of the mill 40 degree mild up. We never used to have these 50's for days warmups like we've had the last few winters.

I'll stay the course for now..but there's a guy with an ice pick lurking in the woods ahead ready to slash my tires

The Pacific showed signs of activity for a while, but while I threw a flag or two out...it really can be a good thing. The PV and cold are right there in Canada which is a good thing, throw in some s/w's undercutting the ridge out west and there are your storms. Will they be all white, no...but fook the dry weather...jut give me some precip and we'll go from there. We still will have a -EPO too.

And every winter has had torches including the best ones. '96, '03, '05 and '11 all had epic torches.

What CoastalWx was saying.... Not only were the 1980s horrible, but the 1990s had some off-the-chart winters to spoil our expectations. I highlighted the < 30" years in red, the > 80" years in blue.

Font colors have never worked inside of code tags. And not to be defensive, but the server wasn't upgraded. The software was updated to seal up security issues and like any update, IPB throws in new bells and whistles that are sometimes initially buggy.

sne is just not that snowy of a place, esp on the CP, there is really no other way around it,  your memories of great winters, and storms, are outliers, it doesn't make sense to put forth expectation and emotion of winter's satisfaction based on long shots.  seems the average wx for the cp of sne in winter is meh anyway.

i mean bos did go 10 straight years on the chart posted above without a 55 inch winter. sure we can get a KU bomb , yup and for one day , we look like sierra mtns. and we remember it for the rest of our lives, but i need more snow. it just doesn't make sense to be miserable 8 out of 10 winters....waiting for the random great winter. and as a snow lover i can't really lower my winter expectations to accpet my climo on the CP. it's not good, and there no way of obfuscating the matter. further out in the elevated interior where averages are 60 and above and frz rain and icing is a serous concern, i think it's a tad different of a story. But the CP, no sorry it sucks on ave for a snow lover. I'm dealing with it
