Special Statement

Expires 4:15 PM EDT on October 29, 2011

Statement as of 2:55 PM EDT on October 29, 2011

... Very heavy snow will continue through at least 4 PM for areas

between Harrisburg... Sunbury and Berwick...

A wide band of extremely heavy snow will pivot over the middle and

lower Susquehanna valley through at least 4 PM. At 3 PM... the band

was about 40 miles either side of a line from Berwick to Duncannon

to Chambersburg.

Wind gusts to 30 mph are possible as well... which will down tree

limbs and will cause power outages. The snow will reduce

visibilities in this snow band to near zero at times. The snow will

fall onto warm Road surfaces... which may cause it to quickly melt.

This could create very icy conditions if the Road surface is

untreated and the water freezes again.

Just got back, I can say that the 11 inch amount on top of Wopsy reported to Brian (about 4-5 miles west of Altoona) is legit, I measured about 9.5-10" at the lookout. Absolutely amazing what a difference a few degrees and likely a much better snow ratio yielded up there. Pics forthcoming.
