hawkeye_wx
Would hate to be in sw iowa. Mid 90's+ right now. 51 here..gotta savor these last lucky cool days. Pretty soon its close the house up for another 4 months again like winter I just noticed several spots in the Omaha area are up to 97. Yikes! We got hit by the outflow from the morning ne IA convection and it took us a while just to get above 70. Just in the last two hours the temp has shot up to about 80. Yep, ARR at 77/66 with UGN at 56/47 give it a few more hours of heating and that gradient will become greater, probably a 30 degree temp difference across the area if not a few degrees more. hawkeye_wx
Up to 88 here with a dewpoint of 67. Both the GFS and Euro are keeping the upper low hanging around for several days, but the Euro is consistently a few degrees warmer aloft through day 10. The Euro would be pretty dry for a while after the late week system. It's getting dry here so I hope we don't get missed like we did yesterday. Could we really go the entire month of May with no severe weather around here?

OHSnow
Whoa... May 10th and it's around 100 degrees in parts of Iowa, despite saturated grounds. This is going to be a scorcher of a summer.
OHSnow
Got warmer than it was supposed to today. Another nice day, but starting to get a bit much. Not here. It was supposed to be in the 70s, instead it's about 60 and breezy. Freezing cold.
A-L-E-K
Just saw 85 on the bank clock, have to image 90s are popping up further west. EDIT: you can see the lake breeze on radar just clearing downtown and nearing ORD, we should start dropping soon.

Eastern Nebraska through Iowa has actually been quite dry. Omaha has only received a half inch of rain in the last three weeks and Des Moines has received almost nothing in two weeks. It's the same here in CR, barely any rain in two weeks.

cyclone77
She's cookin' out there. Up to 93. My thermometer shows we hit 94 an hour or so ago. Feels pretty warm compared to what we had been experiencing. Hard to believe we had frost a week ago or so lol. The leaves are exploding on the trees. Substantial growth the last few days. Starting to look like summer out there.
kab2791
A E/SE fow of the lakes will do that...until tomorrow when the winds shift more SE and the ridge axis shifts east a little. Jonbo
So far today Des Moines has blasted the old record. 90 degrees in 1911 and as of now at the airport, it's at 95 . Though the entire area within about 50 miles seems to be hovering as low as 93 in Ankeny and Ames up to supposedly 100 in Jefferson, IA.
cyclone77
The Quad Cities set a new record today at 93. The old one was 89 I believe. It was weird driving home from work and seeing all the farmers out planting their crops in the 90 degree heat lol.
