Are those um... are those white buildings reactors? The top picture shows 4. The bottom shows 3. WTF.

NHK is showing closeup pics. It looks like the outside structure has blown up and the 'skeleton' is still standing.

This will be terrible news if it is indeed the reactor. Makes you wonder how the future of nuclear energy will move forward if Japan and their earthquake knowledge and preparedness couldn't prevent this sort of disaster. How many other nuke plants are in danger of similiar problems around the world?

It is strange; photos show an entire large building missing but news commentary

report "walls missing".

I think thats because the metal structure is still there its just the walls and roof are gone. Think of a steel framed building before it is completed.

The frame of the building is still there, just the 'white' part of it is not. They zoomed in on it on NHK and you can see the structure still standing.
