  2. My conundrum is a dog that has been sprayed twice in her life, but I know her instincts are to go after any small (or big) animal that wanders through. We have a skunk that comes by most days, and is very careful to stay on the perimeter where it knows the dog can’t get it (due to being on a lead attached to the porch). The problem is going to be, one day, the dog won’t be tethered or will slip out when the skunk is doing his thing eating grubs…. the dog is getting sprayed again.
  3. Playing the athletics next. Might be a nice run there as well. :-)
  4. There were several areas in the LSV that hit 90 yesterday- my high was 91, which was verified by the airport down the road which also reached 91. I think @Blizzard of 93 reached 92 if I'm not mistaken.
  5. I still think we see some bangers overnight so don't be surprised to hear some thunder
  6. How far offshore is that buoy? Montauk reached a high of 80 today on a SW wind.....
  7. I thought you wrote 53 at first, 58 is closer to the lower end of the 60-65 I saw for the south shore. I'm sure it's at least in the low 60s here, I'm quite a bit west of Jones Beach. Goldberg must have read the wrong report, I was amazed that it was 73 and used that to explain why Montauk was so warm 80 degrees today. 8. I would love to change the physical properties of water (its specific heat) so it would warm up and cool down much faster, like the land does. I wonder if there's a way to change the physical properties of water, hmmmm.
  9. Ok so an actual water temp reading from a NDBC NOAA buoy is incorrect got it. i was also in the ocean today at jones beach and it is most certainly 58 degrees. My friend was training for a triathlon and wearing a thermometer watch and it read 58. I’ll believe what I felt and what noaa records over what Lee Goldberg says from his office any day.
  10. That's impossibly low. Lee Goldberg on WABC reported that the SST in our areas were between 60-65 but pointed out that Montauk was the warmest at 73 and that's why the temperature there was 78 at 4 PM. 69 in S NJ. The only place I'd imagine having a 53 degree SST would be somewhere around Greenland. edit oh you wrote 58 not 53 lol, that's a little more reasonable and closer to the 60-65 temperature Lee Goldberg reported for the south shore. But I wonder where he came up with the 73 degree SST for Montauk?
  11. Modeling suggest the worse of the heat out West this year. NW may fry. Also, there is a signal for normal, to at times above normal precip, in our area through the summer.
  12. That is pretty unconventional but very cool. What a neat symbiotic relationship. I don't think that's feasible in suburbia, but I wouldn't mind a neighborhood cat taking an interest. There was one hanging around a few years ago that looked stray. It made a run at the hens, ha.
  13. Thank you for this… I am already done with Summer & we are just getting started. We are getting a new HVAC system installed later next week. In the meantime, I am squeezing out what little chill is left in the old system, which isn’t much. I have it set at 72 & we have been hovering near 80 in the house today.
  14. Don’t let the warm trolls bother you. We get 2 days of seasonal warmth & out they come. At least we don’t need to suffer through all of the “Drought” maps anymore.
  15. I like all the seasons. No need to rush any of ‘em. It’s awesome having more daylight. That whole meso is wild
  16. Today
  17. have you looked at the GFS and Euro? no consistent heat at all HHH nervous
  18. The saturation certainly can help in that regard. In fact, something to monitor heading into summer. More rain can dampen *No pun intended* some of the higher temperature forecasts due to the low-level moisture leftover. Slightly higher dews and slight lower air temps. Still feels hot, but different. Southwesterly winds can of course curb some of that, but that could be a theme this year if rain continues early in the season.
  19. it's good to see we all made it into the 80s!!
  20. live video of the Lubbock storm on Fox weather is crazy
  21. WB EPS November at 6/1 compared to 5/1.
  22. Move to center harbor, You will need less Prozac.
  23. It’s a F’ing scorcher out there baby. Air is heavy, frogs are croaking, kids running around like wild Indians..ya love to see it. Step aside, the dew crew is back in town!
