The storm that shall not be named was a full tropical system - a hurricane - before it got up to this latitude and transitioned. It basically lead to some changes in how a hybrid storm would be handled in the future. This was never a home-grown fully tropical system however FAA is indicating delays with a possible stop on the table - https://nasstatus.faa.gov/

Hasn't been overly windy, but there are a surprising number of roads blocked by fallen trees in my hood. Maybe all the rain this summer weakened them.

Popped into Bethany shops to look, most roads are closed.

I went to go put gas in the gas can. I realized there's no snowblower involved. Force of habit. Last year with roads closed and impassable due to snow it was the first time a gas can actually mattered.

Yup I just heard that on the radio too. Looking at the radar, it does look like a bit of a longer lull after lunch for LI and the city with random light showers and drizzle. Queens was mostly dry slotted from 0900 to 1030 with only random areas of drizzle but that blob over LI and the sound pushed east into the city and is over us now. Mostly lighter rains with this wave.

my wife said the store was mobbed with ppl buying your typical stuff ahead of a blizzard, they really hyped this up on the news, at least from what I hear, and no canes really this season, had to focus on something. Plus people here noreaster and I think subconsciously think snow storm, aside from the coast it's not that big a deal most of the time, the day before I left was more windy than now, we'll see what later and tomorrow brings
